Spotting 4 weeks after D&C

Hi all, I had a D&C four weeks ago and I'm still having brown spotting. I went for an ultrasound at 3 weeks and my doctor said everything looks good. Has any else experienced spotting 4 weeks after D&C, is this normal? I'm also still getting faint positives, how long did you test positive for? Should I be worried? Confused

Sorry you're going through this.

Following as I'm 3 weeks post d&c and have been spotting (alternating between brown and bright red ever since) and got a strong positive pregnancy test this morning.

It seems like it's fairly common for things to take a while to settle down after a d&c, but it's frustrating.

I'm so sorry you are also going through this, it's super frustrating. I had strong positive lines for two weeks, but in the third week, they started getting lighter. Just hang in there, and hopefully, they'll get lighter soon.

Hi, im sorry for your loss. My miscarriage started on the 8th and the bleeding finished on the 18th. Mine was removed naturally and around the 21/22 i started getting my negative pregnancy tests. It does take time and everyones timing is different.

hope things settle soon xx

@Eviee92 Just wondering if you're testing negative yet?

I'm now 4 weeks post d&c, still getting fairly clear positive tests and still getting a bit of blood (red and brown) when I wipe.

I'm so ready for this to be over.

I've left a message with the gynae unit at my hospital but I feel like a huge time waster.

@Sherw00d I'm also still getting positive results, but the lines are super faint. They seem almost gone but it's driving me mad. My doctor wasn't too worried about the super faint lines and said it should turn negative soon. Planning to take a digital test by the end of the week and really hoping it comes back negative.

I think my period might have arrived at 4 weeks but I'm not even sure if that's possible with the vvfl I've been getting? Had the usual cramps I get before a period for a few days, heavier bleeding for 2 days and it settled on days 3 and 4, tomorrow will be day 5. I guess we'll see how that turns out. Confused

I'm also so ready for this to be over with, it's emotionally draining, and I just want to move on.

I'm really sorry you are going through this, I really hope you get a negative soon.

@Eviee92 I'm glad your tests are getting fainter - hopefully they'll be truly negative soon! (It feels very strange hoping for a negative test...)

I called the hospital (hoping they'd tell me not to be silly and stop worrying) and explained my situation. They want me in for a scan on Thursday morning as they think I may have retained tissue based on how strong my tests still are and the bleeding.

I also went to the loo about an hour ago and passed a LOT of blood and a big clot about half the size of my palm. No cramps and my periods don't usually start suddenly, plus my cervix is high so it doesn't seem like a period. I haven't had any bleeding like that since the d&c itself, so it's probably a good thing I'll be getting checked over.

We'll get there eventually...

@Eviee92 Sorry you're still getting faint lines but it sounds like things are at least going in the right direction - especially if the doctor isn't concerned. Having done far too much research on this recently, it seems like you can get your period while still getting very faint positive tests. Fingers crossed for your positive test!

It really is just horrible. All you want is to grieve the loss and start moving forward, so being stuck waiting for the physical side to end is really frustrating.
