Medical management experience - still bleeding

Hi everyone
I had medical management Wednesday 11th October
I’m still bleeding 13 days later - it’s not bright red blood like it was for the initial few days, it’s like a really dark brown period blood (not a lot of it at all but I still can’t get away with not wearing a pad ☹️). Can this be normal?!
EPU told me to do a pregnancy test in 2 weeks (which will be tomorrow) and to ring them if it’s positive.
I did do one on Sunday and it was positive.
I’m so scared I may have retained products, I’ve read way too many stories on google it seems quite common 😔

So sorry for your loss!! With my 1st miscarriage it was 4 weeks for me to stop bleeding, the last week of it was very light. I was testing positive for over 2 weeks. With my 2nd it was just over 2 weeks for bleeding to stop and I was testing positive until 10 days after. If you test positive tomorrow let the hospital know and they will get you in quickly for a scan.

I haven't got personal experience of this but wanted to send you a hand-hold and also to encourage you to stay off Google if you can - I know it's really hard not to look things up but I think it just creates more anxiety (one of the first things I was told when my MC was diagnosed was "don't go on Google" so it has stuck with me). There is a possibility your pregnancy test will still be positive after 2 weeks - mine was, but I was advised by EGU when I had my surgery to test after 3 weeks so I left it a week and then got a negative. So it's not necessarily a sign of retained products if you have a positive test after 2 weeks - but if I were you I would give the EPU a call anyway to ask for some advice on the bleeding. Good luck.

@CluelessInLondon thank you so much ❤️. Google is the devil isn’t it. I’m constantly googling.
Also seeing how common it is to get more than one miscarriage has also scared the life out of me 🥺 I’m going to stay off google now and I’ve left 2 Facebook groups for miscarriages also.
I only had a wee like 45 mins ago, and there was blood then, but I felt like I needed a other wee (hadnt drunk anything in between) and thought I’d do a pregnancy test (why can’t I just wait 😭) and it was negative !! But, my wee was really clear / diluted coz I’d not been long ago. So I’m feeling hopeful but also worried it’s a false negative. I think I’ll do another one tonight or wait until the morning. If I’m still bleeding though, isn’t it weird my test is negative? Makes me think it is a false negative.

Thank you for your reply ❤️ I’m sorry for your loss too xxx

@Pumpkinspice13 Thank you for your reply ❤️.
Makes me less worried! Early pregnancy unit didn’t give a lot of info on what to expect etc ☹️ just said to call them if I test positive after 2 weeks.
I will do!
Thank you
I’m sorry for your losses too 💔 xxx

@Holly0609 I would wait until tomorrow morning and use FMU - that way you know it's concentrated and any remaining HCG will show up. There could be something else that's contributing to the ongoing bleeding so if it doesn't seem like it's stopping, give the EPU a call tomorrow anyway. But I hope you get that negative test and the bleeding settles down. Flowers

@CluelessInLondon I will do. Thank you xxx

Very sorry for your loss. I was bleeding for 3 weeks after I had medical management and it turned out that I did have retained products. I passed a bit of tissue naturally at home and then the bleeding stopped instantly. If your bleeding is getting lighter gradually, then it usually fine I think. If it is still really heavy then I would push for a scan.

Sending you lots of virtual hugs. I have had 4 miscarriages. Number 3 involved medical management. This was done on 1st September, I didn't pass everything until 16th October. I had lots of bleeding inbetween. I had a small piece that wasn't budging but It did eventually. Hope you are ok and have lots of support around you Flowers

@KatieJ345 thank you for your reply.
It’s definitely getting lighter. The first 4-5 days I was bleeding heavily and bright red. I thought it was gradually stopping but after a week I passed a big clump of tissue.
Since then it’s been a lot lighter, and very dark / old blood. I can go 6/8 hours or so with no blood at all, then I’ll get a bit again. So hopefully it’s coming to an end, I’m praying I won’t have to go through anything else now ☹️. It’s horrible when you just want it over with and to try get back on track isn’t it?
Desperate to start trying again ☹️
Sorry for your loss also 💕

@Holly0609 I think that definitely sounds like a good sign that the bleeding will end soon. I felt the same about wanting to TTC right away and it was so hard waiting. My first period after was very heavy and I didn’t ovulate until my second cycle. We then conceived on the the third cycle and now 14 weeks pregnant. Be kind to yourself, things will get better over time.
