I have been lurking on this board for a while now.
I was 11 weeks 2 days pregnant when I had a small amount of blood, called the EPU who said come in for a scan and they found a yolk but nothing else in the womb (to be honest a bit of a blur but I remember the screener saying repeatedly that there is nothing there). I was still testing pregnant and had pregnancy symptoms (this was on the 10th October). They tested my HCG and progesterone on the Tuesday and Thursday and said that as the levels were decreasing they diagnosed miscarriage with potential ectopic, saying that they couldn't say for certain it was ectopic.
The information they said was the only treatment for me was to wait for it to come away naturally and that medical mismanagement and other options were not a option for me due to the diagnosis. I've been bleeding continuously since the 10th but had my worst day on Saturday where (I think?) most of it came out. I'm still testing positive for pregnancy. They told that they didn't need to do any follow up appointments for me and that it would just leave my body and to take paracetamol for pain. To be honest it was horrendous pain and the information they gave me was very sparse so I've spent a while week basically trying to find out what any of it all means. I eventually called the GP who gave me some actual pain medication. The blood was a bit horrifying, they told me it would be like a heavy period.
My question is this though, in situations like this do they just assume that all tissue will leave the body? Everywhere I read says that they should be checking that it's all left my body but all they said to me was to take a test in 10 days (which I have and it's positive) but that to expect bleeding.
Oh and to add the EPU advised me to wait two months before trying again and to use protection if having sex and my GP said to wait one full cycle (baffling eh!)
Any advice welcome!
