Spotting since norethisterone for MC

I miscarried at 11 weeks and after bleeding for 5 weeks, I was put on a course of norethisterone. I did the full course and had a bleed 3 days after I stopped the tablets. I had a bleed for 5/6 days and have had light spotting for 3 days since this ended. It isn’t heavy and sometimes I can go quite a while with no spotting but I have never experience this prior to MC.

We are eager to TTC again and I’m concerned this means something is still wrong or it will take months for my cycle to go back to normal. Has anyone had this before? X

Sorry for your loss, it’s such a difficult and stressful time when your body is going through so much. Have the doctors done a pregnancy test to make sure all pregnancy tissue has gone?

Thank you.

I tested negative around 3 weeks after MC and have had 2 scans since. They said there was a 2cm blood clot that wasn’t working it’s way out which is why they put me on norethisterone and the consultant was convinced that would sort it.

I just want to be able to move on and every time I think it’s ending, the bleeding starts again.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a MMC at 13 weeks in May and it did take a while for my body to get back to normal. I bled constantly for about 4 weeks constantly after due to retained products. After everything passed, I had about 3 days with no bleeding before my first period started - this then lasted about 2 weeks but some of it was spotting at the end. After that the periods became regular but they were heavy and longer for 2 months. When I reached the third cycle things seemed to have settled and we conceived again on that cycle. It is really hard emotionally as you just want to TTC again right away but sometimes it takes the body longer. I had the spotting after both periods I had for a few days so I don’t think it means anything is wrong. I hope yours settle soon.

@KatieJ345 Thank you so much. I think I need to change my mindset and expect it to take a few months rather than hoping it’s soon.

It seems to have turned to a darker red, more like a period as opposed to light red. I haven’t ever had much spotting before but this seems like more than just spotting if it’s that colour?
