D&C - No bleeding & still have a faint positive

Hi,
just wondering if any else experienced no bleeding after a D&C ? I’m also still testing positive over 3 weeks later.
i spoke to a nurse who said she’s not too concerned as my positive is only faint but it’s been the same ‘faint’ for the past two weeks.

also the lack of bleeding has worried me, but again, she said whilst rare this could be a sign that the surgeon just did a good job.

for a bit of context. I found out 8th sept I suffered MM. I had medical management which failed & then referred to surgery two weeks later.
I’ve had no bleeding throughout this whole thing and I really feel like it would give me some sort of closure :(

has anyone experienced this? The hospital said they’ll organise a scan for me if I’m still testing positive next week but as you can imagine, next week already feels like a lifetime away.

Sorry you’re going through this. It took 4 weeks for me to test negative and even then there was a faint line after the timeframe. If it’s still positive next week ask them to do bloods as well as a scan.

@Sonny124 So sorry for your loss - sounds like your timeline is very similar to mine, I found out I was miscarrying on 12th September and had surgical management on the 22nd so 3 weeks ago today. I had very little bleeding afterwards - not absolutely none as you're describing, but much lighter than a period and it was pretty much gone within 3 days.

I don't think it's particularly unusual to still have a positive test after 3 weeks, it seems as though it can take people's bodies different amounts of time to clear the HCG. The waiting for that negative test is so frustrating, but it's good that you've spoken to the hospital so they are aware and can scan you next week if needed - keeping fingers crossed for you that you get a negative result soon.

Following with interest. My pregnancy tests are negative but still no bleed - really thought I would have had one, especially as the surgeon left my lining in tact (just removed the pregnancy) as I was scared of scarring. Do let me know if you find out more!

Hey guys thanks for replying. It’s a bit of comfort knowing that I am not alone in this. I keep googling (I know this is not the best thing to do) but it’s full of negative tests after 2weeks and bleeds etc. I am really beginning to worry.
for the past few days I keep feeling like I’m coming on, but still nothing…

I had no bleeding after my ERPC and it took three weeks to get a negative test I think. Period came exactly 5 weeks after the surgery.

@Sonny124 One of the first things the nurse at the EGU said to me after I had my scan and was told there was no heartbeat was "do not go on Google" and she was right! It's really hard not to but it can really send you down rabbit holes and get you panicking. The Miscarriage Association has really good information on what to expect and what happens afterwards, and that's where the hospital pointed me to for more information, so I would definitely recommend having a look at their website if you haven't already.

Hi Just to update. I’ve finally had a little bleed today. It was only a bit of spotting but it is the first I’ve had since this whole saga began. It sounds bizarre but I think I mentally needed this to accept the pregnancy was gone.

I am still Faintly positive. I’m hoping that this maybe flushed something out and that I finally test negative soon.

I never thought I’d be so happy to bleed 🙁
