Help needed - bleeding at 6 weeks, 3 days

Hi everyone.
We had a scan due to mild spotting at 6 weeks, 2 days yesterday and everything was perfect - heartbeat seen and perfect measurements.

Less than 24 hours later and I’m having dark red/brown bleeding which was quite heavy to start with and is tapering off a few hours later now.

The only change is that I’ve started Cyclogest pessaries and have been inserting those vaginally.

My clearblue test still said 3+, but my easy@home looked lighter though it has for a few days got gradually lighter I think due to the hook effect.

I’m so confused now and 50/50 between a miscarriage and a pregnancy that’s still viable.

The EPU phoned back and agreed I can do the Cyclogest rectally now, but they didn’t believe Cyclogest would cause the bleeding. They have said they won’t scan less than a week apart, so I’m in limbo now.

Has anyone experienced anything similar esspecially with Cyclogest pessaries being started? Any advice or guidance would be truly appreciated. I know that no one can give a definitive answer but I would love some ideas good and bad to prepare me!

@Beth98 How's it going? Have you gone back for another scan yet?

I have not used Cyclogest pessaries before, but I think I had something similar prescribed by my IVF doctor which were inserted vaginally. These things contain progesterone which should help stabilizing pregnancy rather than causing bleeding/miscarriage.

If you have heavy bleeding, you can go to the hospital for a check up. I don't know if EPU is the only place you can go or if you can go to the ER (in my country we don't have EPU, I went straight to ER when I had bleeding at 6 weeks, and I had a miscarriage). It's better than guessing what's happening.

Hope all is well.

Hi, I had a private scan and all was fine 😊 as I have a mild bicornuate uterus, the bleeding was coming from the right horn whereas the baby is in the left! Looks like my right side is shedding its lining as no baby is there!

Still bleeding now, but I was told to expect that and have my dating scan tomorrow as I need CVS testing so need a dating scan ASAP! I'm more worried now as my symptoms have decreased over the last few days - I didn't have major symptoms anyway but my boobs are now less painful, I'm not gagging at smells as much and I have less spots! Bit worried about having my heart broken tomorrow, but I hope I'm just overthinking things.

Feels like one worry ends and another begins!

I started bleeding at 6 weeks and assumed I'd lost the baby. It turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma (basically a bruise in the uterus)
Baby was fine and I bled until around 12 weeks. Good luck x
