First time trying for a baby - month 1

My husband and I started trying for a baby in mid September. I started getting several symptoms, in particular hunger in the morning (I never am), vivid dreams and cramping on my left side several days after ovulation. My breasts got large and sensitive, that was the first thing that happened. I had every intuition that something was going on, but I got my period yesterday and now I feel stupidl, to be honest. Today when I wiped I saw a long clot but it didn´t disperse when pressed. Could there have been fertilization, only implantation wasn´t successful? I don´t like thinking these symptoms are psychologically self-induced. I´m going to stop drinking coffee this month. I´d appreciate any feedback.

It might have been a chemical pregnancy, although if you didn't actually do a pregnancy test then you won't know for certain. Some early pregnancy symptoms can be very similar to period symptoms, which can mess with your head as not always easy to tell if it's a period arriving or not. It is also easy to start symptom-spotting when you're looking for them - not to suggest that's what you were doing in this case, but it's an easy trap to fall into.

Possibly, only a pregnancy test will show either way. And honestly, if you enjoy coffee, there's no proper evidence a modest amount of caffeine will have any impact on your fertility.

With out a test it is hard to tell sadly. Though if your period wasn't significantly late I would try not to dwell on it (though I totally understand that is very hard to do). As others have said a lot of period symptoms are similar to pregnancy symptoms and are minds can play tricks on us once we have started actively trying for a baby.

Hi, I had a very similar experience. I had all the symptoms, even had a 3 faint positive pregnancy tests. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage, a chemical miscarriage they call it. I’m no doctor but maybe you had the same. It’s when you are pregnant for a day or two but then miscarry
