Incompetent cervix

Hello,

I hope this is the right place to post. At 19 weeks, I was told I have an incompetent cervix and I have what could be an infection in my amniotic fluid. I have all the markers for an infection also.

We have been told to prepare to go into labour before 24 weeks and my whole world has just come crumbling down. I know the likelihood of baby surviving before 24 weeks is very very slim.

We had started to prepare the nursery. All my friends and family know I am pregnant. How do I handle the anxiety? I am not sleeping, not eating well, spending every just completely panicking. Any tips on how to deal with this please?

Darling take it one step at a time, tell yourself you are pregnant today and keep positive. Make sure you look after yourself you need to stay strong.

I am so sorry you’re going through this, however look at the positives. They know what’s going on and are aware of the potential issue.

Have they mentioned it you could possibly have the surgical stitch?

Hi, if you have Instagram there’s a girl on there called gemma irelandpell and she also had an incompetent cervix and she’s just delivered her baby and all is well, just might make you feel better knowing someone else was in the same boat!

@AngelAlessia Thank you so much. I had an emergency stitch but the consultants did not seem very confident it would work in our case because of how quickly things changed / potential infection.

@Hampstead16 yes I came across her profile the other day, we live near the same area so I might try and go under Addenbrookes hospital care instead for a second opinion.

There’s nothing I can or anyone can say to make you feel any better and I understand completely how you feel. The helplessness and vulnerability is overwhelming. What I will say is mindset and positivity go a long way and it’s hard given the situation but you got this ✨

@AngelAlessia thanks lovely 🙏 I guess there's nothing else left to do but to hope, pray and try and remain positive x

The girl on Instagram had the stitch but when it failed she also had a pessary which ultimately worked, arbian? Or something similar? Could be worth enquiring about. Fingers crossed for you OP.

Wishing you all the luck in the world that things go well 🤍

@prayforamiracle
sending lots of love and prayers your way ❤️ Get multiple opinions if you can of alternative things people have mentioned - just incase 🤞

I lost my little girl at 19 weeks & it was devastating so I know how you are feeling. The worry, the hoping and praying someone has gotten it wrong, the denial, everything! I have been there.

During, everything pointed towards an incompetent cervix even consultants discussed this at the time yet once I got my test results back it was a placenta & infection issue.

I hope things work out positively for you - sending you all the love ❤️❤️ Xx

@LM88 I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby girl 😢🩷

Thank you so much. My infection markers are still high after two lots of antibiotics so it does not seem to be working. It just totally sucks all round :( x
