no bleeding after d&c:is this normal?

Had a d&c yesterday, bled for a few hours afterwards (reasonably heavy) but have had nothing more. Will I start to bleed more? Doctor said I could bled for around 10days so just seems strange to have nothing.Thanks

Not abnormal at all.

I had a similar experience in December of last year.

All I had afterwards was basically very light spotting on and off for about 10 days.

Your first period after D&C may be delayed, however.

It often is.

I had one on 10 December and didn't get a period until 26 January.

I had an ERPC (same as a D&C I think, new name for it) in Sept after an MMC, had the same thing as you - no bleeding for quite a few days actually, then bled for about two weeks, heavy then light. If nothing happens by Monday, call your GP or hospital, I would say. Take care x

Hi Rosie, I had a D&C in Jan and had pretty much stopped bleeding by the day after. A semi-related point - I was in hospital and asked the consultant if I'd be ok to swim, bath and have sex already (they normally say wait til you've stopped bleeding, seemed logical to me that it might be ok straight away because no bleeding!).

He looked at me like I was a mental nympho, and said no you should still wait 7-14 days, as you've had an operation in that area, and it is still relatively likely to get infected.

My period came 4 and a half weeks after the D&C.

Thank you for your replies...was beginning to think I was a bit abnormal as feeling so well physically and, surprisingly, mentally.

I was crampy for a couple of days, but that was about it.

Hi Rosie, I had an ERPC 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Did not bleed at all for the first week, then it started with a vengeance last Monday! I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow so will double check if this is normal or not...
Hopefully you will get away without any bleeding - it makes sense really if they have scraped everything away doesn't it! Glad to hear you are feeling well - I felt pretty good after mine too (I felt like a bit of a fraud when my Husband's Aunt sent some "Get Well" flowers!!)

I had an ERPC yesterday - have had some light bleeding and crampy feelings since. Hoping that I won't get heavy bleeding next week. Was told to expect a period type bleed for the next 10 days.

Sorry if I have worried anyone - I should have said that my ERPC was for molar pregnancy. Apparently this makes a difference as some of the cells can grow back causing the bleeding. Hope you are all feeling ok and that the lack of bleeding continues if you know what i mean

Hello all, I'm going to try to make this post as short as possible with so much to say... Had tubal done in 2015 after my 3rr child (2nd csection) then I felt like something was off with my body so I took a HPT and they both were positive so I went 2 er where their urine test was negative but blood test was positive with hcg levels of 140 went to doc this past Monday and found out it might be a possible miscarriage so I had blood drawn again hcg levels went to 215 doc said it did not look like a successful pregnancy due to having alot of blood in my uterus so I had a d&c yesterday and I have 2 go back this coming Friday to see if my hcg levels lowered or what's what... Anyone went thru the same thing and found out they were still pregnant even after d&c was performed at follow up appointment? Please reach out, I'm going crazy. Thanks in advance!

Hi MiracleMomof4, sorry for your loss. It’s probably best to start a new thread about your situation as lots of people won’t see this one.

I would think it’s pretty unusual to still be pregnant after a D&C. The hospital will check what they removed to ensure they succeeded. Is there a reason you think you might still be pregnant?

Ok I will definitely do that, and I'm still having pregnancy symptoms... Tender breasts, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, pains on and off... it's just a feeling that I had when I thought I was pregnant that made me want 2 take a test, and I still feel like I am, sorry I can't really explain it, it's just a feeling that I have and I'm almost never wrong lol

I was 6 weeks pregnant and last Thursday I got light bleeding and went to hospital did a scan and had lost the pregnancy, but the bleeding wasn't heavy at all and did D and C on Monday but up to now no bleeding is this normal.thanks

and I still feel my lower stomach still like before
