Negative test after miscarriage

Hi all

Sorry subject should really be positive test after miscarriage.

I was told to take a pregnancy test 3 weeks after a medically managed miscarriage to ensure negative, but today (2 weeks after miscarriage, and 3 days after bleeding finished) I decided to take a test in the hope of things being over and moving forward. The sac came out whole on the day of the medically managed part so i was hopeful hcg would reduce quickly. However (and perhaps unsurprisingly) it was positive. Not just a faint line though, a really strong line. We haven't had sex since following hospital advice so it can't be new pregnancy.

I'm really scared now that next week there will still be a line and I will have to have further treatment. Please can anyone give me some advice of how long in their experience it took to get a negative test?

@Khanga27 so sorry for your loss. I've had 2 MMCs, and both times it's taken exactly 3 weeks to get a negative test. On my first, my line was super strong at just before 2 weeks too so hopefully yours goes down soon x

@moosey89 thank you and I'm so.sorry about your experiences. I wish I hadn't taken the test now as I just feel a mess after doing okay for the past few days. Thank you for your reply it has helped me feel a little calmer.

@Khanga27 it's a stressful time with so many unknowns and waiting periods! Be kind to yourself and take the time you need, hope you feel better soon x

Update - took.test today which is 3 weeks after the medical miscarriage in hospital. Is a fainter but still positive line. Have called EPAU today and they said a doctor will call back this afternoon and a scan would be next week due to no scans over the weekend.

Can I ask what the outcome was please? I have a scan tomorrow due to a faint test at 3 weeks post procedure. Feel very anxious x

Hi there. For me the scan confirmed there was still RPOC so some of the pregnancy was still there. I had further medical management but this didn’t work at all so I required surgical management due to the risk of infection. This was successful. I found the recovery from this a lot easier than after the first medical management to be honest, I had more energy and didn’t feel so washed out. My periods came back about a month later.
