Bleeding after sex

Hi all, sorry for the TMI post

Had a medical MC last Saturday, bled for a week and stopped Saturday just gone. Stupidly had protected sex yesterday (8 days post MC) and have woke up to bleeding today. Is this normal? I know I should have waited a further week, but thought I’d be ok with the bleeding having stopped.

Yes it would be normal so soon after stopping bleeding. The likelihood is you might have spotted for a few more days on / off and the movement of intercourse has just set off a bit of a bleed. Be careful though, the reason the rule is generally 2 weeks is to ensure no infections. You should be fine but if you get any pain at all contact your GP. Sorry for your loss.

@BudgetBuster i know it was really foolish of me, think I just wanted to feel a bit normal again as we hadn’t been intimate during the pregnancy but now I’m going to be panicking about infection. Ive got my final scan on Saturday so hopefully if there was an issue it would show up on there.

It's very unlikely that there is any retained tissue. Even after a normal period, if you have sex immediately after stopping bleeding its likely to trigger a bleed again. Best of luck x

same happened to me I miscarried about a week ago and stopped bleeding yesterday and stupidly had sex straight away😶

now I’ve triggered a little bleed and I’m too worried.. but I’m sure we would have spotted on and off and it’s triggered it.

fortunately, I didn’t have any repercussions from having sex so soon- had the MC follow up scan a week later and everything was fine. Hopefully will be the same for you x
