How long until a negative test?

Hi all,

It’s been 4 weeks now since a medical miscarriage after my 12 week scan showed 8+3 with no heartbeat.

I went for a scan this week to check for retained products as my tests are still positive and got the all clear. The hospital test showed negative in the middle of the day, but the easy at home strips I’ve been using each morning still show a faint but definite positive. No chance of a new pregnancy. We’ve been incredibly sad, but we’re ready now to try again, so am a bit frustrated that my bodies letting me down again and still holding on to those hormones.

I feel that the information out there is so vague, I’m interested to know how long it took others to finally get that negative test and how soon after you got your period.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Both of mine I had surgical management between 10-11 weeks, and I got a negative test after 3 weeks both times. I don't remember when my period came back last time, but this time around it took 4 1/2 weeks. I didn't ovulate between the miscarriage and getting my period back, but a lot of women do ovulate before their next period.

It can take from 2 weeks to a couple of months for the hormones to leave your system. If the tests are getting lighter that's a good thing, and the hormones will be fading. Hope you get that negative soon x
