Hi ladies ,

So last week I went for a early scan at EPU due to having 2 previous ectopic pregnancies. I should have been 5.5 weeks however I was only measuring 5 weeks with only a gestational sac and yolk sac seen.

Now i instantly new something was wrong as one I track my ovulation and secondly I had a MMC back In January which was a simular situation (lost baby at 7.5 weeks)

I have my next scan tomorrow wirh EPU but In between that , I stupidly booked a private scan on Monday just gone which based on LMP I should have been 6.3 weeks, again only gestational sac and yolk sac present , GS had increased in size but only measuring 10.4mm.

I'm fully expecting to hear the bad news tomorrow from the NHS , anyone else in this horrible waiting period?

Should it be bad news , I'm looking to do medical management , I had a MVA with my last MMS and my personal experience was awful , I know I could op for the d&c but I'm to worried about causing scaring.

Has any one had medical management recently and can share their experience? .

Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Hi OP so sorry to hear you are going through this. I do hope it is not the case but also know what it is like to get your hopes up.
I had medical management 2 months ago. I was dating around 10 weeks but measuring more at 8/9 weeks. I was abit scared as I read horror stories of all the options. For me medical management was fine though obviously no option is nice. I was given two tablets 36 hours apart the first just caused slight period type discomfort. For the second the hospital said I could stay in for 5/6 hours to make sure I was ok. It took about 2 hours to start properly working. It was not unbearable just strong period pain that kind of stayed with pressure. I did take some paracetamol and kept drinking water as I was told it would pass when I used the toilet which you do in them bowls. The nurse said I had pass most of the pregnancy in the hospital which I also thought. I pass afew more clots at home and bleed for a couple more weeks.

Hi @namechange39673 thank you so much for sharing your experience and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Have you had a period since the medication?

It took us 6 months to conceive again after the MVA so should i go down the medicated route I want to start trying again ASAP. I just hate all this waiting around! I just want it to be over with. Xx

I am so sorry you are going through this. If it is any comfort to you, you are not alone. I had a MMC in April and chose medical management. I had to have two doses and still bad retained products but it was small enough to pass with my next period, which returned about 7 weeks after.

I felt incredibly low and alone during this period. If you want to reach out by private message, even just to vent, please feel free. I think the waiting around just adds to the already difficult time. Thinking of you x

Yes I have had a period since (my cycles are fairly long).
I know exactly what you mean about waiting I felt the same at first I just wanted to know and then I just wanted it to be over.
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy if not this time then very soon x

Thanks ladies for your lovely messages . I had my scan today and it was what I thought, as the NHS have to follow certain guidelines I have to have another scan in a weeks time for them to 100% confirm before proceeding with removing the pregnacy 🥺🥺 such a long process, I'm hoping I can just miscarry naturally during this waiting time but I'm not feeling hopeful this will happen. Xx

Hey @Kirst318

I'm in the same situation.

I went for a private scan yesterday when I thought I was 8 weeks. They could only see the gestational sac - no yolk sac or embryo. I was referred to EPU at my local hospital and have my first NHS scan today. I'm not hopeful. The gestational sac measurements put me at 7 weeks and I know they should be able to see a baby at that point.

Hi @Labyrinth86 how did you get on at your scan today with the NHS , I really hope it was a good outcome ?

I've got my final scan on Friday, it's just such a long process.

I hope you're okay xx

Hey @Kirst318

It wasn't what I was expecting. Still bad news - non-viable pregnancy but rather than being an empty gestational sac, mine is actually filled with tissue. They don't know what it is so they're going to do another blood test tomorrow and possibly more diagnostics. I just want whatever it is out of my body but now I'm worried it's something life threatening.

All the best for your final scan. I hope your treatment follows promptly. Xx
