Miscarriage Poem

Hi All, I posted this earlier in Bereavement by mistake. I wonder if you can help me. Some years ago I found a poem via Mumsnet after I had my miscarriage which helped me a great deal. It was only about four lines long and was an expression of how although not with us for long, the child was very much part of us. I think it had the words 'but for us you lived and died' but I could be wrong. I did print it out and gave copies to several friends who have been through the same thing. Now my cousin has had a miscarriage at 20 weeks I would like to send her a copy - and as usual, I cannot find my copy. I just hope it tugs memories and someone can lay their hands on it for me.

Many thanks for your help.

I know this isn't the poem you looked for, but having suffered an early m/c I took comfort in the following

?When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.?

In my case, it enabled me to look beyond the sadness of the loss to the joy of what was a very much wanted pregnancy.

Condolences to your cousin

Is it this one?

No name, no face, no date of birth,

No hour of death, no plot of earth.

You never breathed or kicked or cried

And yet for us, you lived and died.

I have a small remembrance

A clinic card, filled in just once.

I've just read this poem for the 1st time & have reached for the tissues. Its 15 years since my miscarriage now & I never forget the date I lost the baby or about the due date. It is just something that will always be there. I have 2 lovely chn now, but you never forget the baby you loved but never lived.

Thank you for posting that poem, I have just suffered my second miscarriage and while I am crying I found it a comfort.

This is probably too long to be the one you're thinking of, but just in case:

The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn't bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.

But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.

The little one we longed for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.

And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
For every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.

Hello, This is not the one your after but I found this a comfort, after each 4 m/c's
My ting angel baby, silent from the start.
Your footsteps echo loudly as you dance upon my heart.

xxx

oh buggerlugs, I'm so sorry. It's heartbreaking, I know. Please be kind to yourself, I know what you mean about not being able to face other people, but you can get a lot of support and kindness from others. I found it easier just to send a text to everyone who knew. Give yourself lots of time to heal, take care xxx

That sounds very sensible, my immune system is very low now and I caught a sore throat off a friend, which has now turned into a very nasty cold. If you go back too early, you'll likely to just get sick and have to be off anyway. Take care.
