IS THIS MISCARRIAGE BLEEDING & CLOTS FOR 3 DAYS - NEED HELP

To cut this short I found out I was pregnant & everything was OK but I started getting brown stringy discharge when I wiping so I went for an early pregnancy scan, I should have been 8+2 weeks but after the scan & internal scan they said fetus was measuring around 5 weeks, they couldn't see a heartbeat so come back in 2 weeks which they should be able to see one by then. Fetus was in the right position & everything else was fine. Doctor didn't seem worried at all.

After the internal I had bad stomach pain for 3 days, no red bleeding just the brown stringy discharge when I wiped, thought this was normal.

Then 4th day I had a bleed, only a small amount on tissue when I wiped.

5th day nothing, back to normal, again Thought and hoped everything was OK.

7th day bleeding starts, cramping and then some pain.. Came on very quick, started bleeding & also clots, they were about the size of a marble. I had around 7 of these and some smaller ones.

Day 8 pain and cramping got really intense, standing up is causing blood gushing out and larger clots.. I had around 10 ranging from marble size to a golf ball size.

Today is day 9.. the pain is so bad, I can't move of the sofa without intense cramping, still blood clots are coming and bleeding. I will get pain, feel gushing and feeling the clots coming out. They are still ranging from marble to golf ball size. Worried to walk about as pain gets worse and so does the bleeding.

I know I have misscaried which is heartbreaking but this pain is taking over my entire body. Is this normal?? The pain is so excruciating I have cried most of the day even after taking many pain killers.

Is this right? Has anyone else bleed so much after miscarriage, have you had clots for 3 days with no sign of slowing down???

Please help me. I need someone to tell me what happening is normal. I have read so many threads but cannot find anything to relates to how much I am bleeding. EPU is closed until Monday and I don't want to sit in A&E for hours. I just need reassurance for the weekend.

Please anyone?

I’m so sorry this is happening to you 😢 honestly I would call EPU or go to the hospital if your pain and bleeding is that bad and pain killers are not helping they would want to see you ♥️

Hi op

Sorry to hear what your going through. I think sometimes people don't go into enough detail about the reality of miscarriage. Essentially your womb is contracting so it will be much worse than normal period pains. It is painful but also normal unfortunately.

It might help to stand in a warm shower and let it hit your lower back. Hot water bottle and take paracetamol plus ibuprofen. Once the bigger clots pass it will reduce quite dramatically.

You said its difficult to stand up and walk about but this might help to move things along which is why standing in the shower might help.

If you are really struggling with the pain you can go to A&E. Its such a difficult time I hope you have some support with you,

Thank you for your reply.

I sat in the bath yesterday which helped. The pain woke me up at 4.30 this morning, I was hoping it would be a bit better today but it's not.

I feel better knowing that the pain is normal.

Oh I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. It really is traumatic so please give yourself some time to process it and rest once the physical part is over.

I had similar to what you describe and the pain got worse and worse until the actual fetus came away, it must have been a little bit stuck. I had the urge to push a little and the relief was instant. Have you had any
urge to push at all? It definitely won’t hurt to call someone and explain what’s going on, to keep yourself safe. So sorry again xx

I had really bad pains for a couple of days, and the first day was the worst, a lot worse than any period cramps I've ever had. That really intense pain lasted a few hours and I had bad cramping on and off for a few days.

I had been referred to A&E the evening before when I called 111 after I started bleeding, and they wanted to see me to make sure it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy.

I know it's a long wait in A&E but they are the best placed to ensure that you don't have any complications, and especially if the bleeding is this bad I would really recommend at least ringing 111. I hope you're feeling better now and that you get through this ok.

How are you feeling now op, hope you are on the other side and feeling a bit better physically.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
It was one of the worst experiences I have ever been through, the pain was so intense and I was not prepared for it at all.

The midwife and nurse didn’t warn me at all of how bad it would/could get and said to expect bad period cramps… it was not even close to that.

Much like you I had 2-3 days of the worst pain and then a week of heavy period without much pain after.

This side of miscarriage isn’t talked about enough and women are often going into without being given adequate pain relief. Paracetamol and ibuprofen did nothing.

How are you? Mentally and physically? I know it’s so hard and from my own experience nothing anyone said took away that pain in the first few months
