I went to hospital for my 12 week scan to be told the baby was only measuring 8 weeks 2 days no signs of life, I was given option of Misoprostol or d&c this is my first pregnancy and was afraid of d&c causing damage for the future so I took Misoprostol 4 tablets it’s been almost 24 hours barely anything happening I don’t know if I can bare to take more tablets and for nothing to happen again and have to go for d&c anyway every minute feels like an hour and I just want this part of to be over :( but I don’t want to risk any damage for the future

I’m so sorry for your loss, and that you’re having to deal with this awful decision. I was there 9 weeks ago. The trouble is no one can predict what the outcome will be for your body. Did you have the tablets vaginally? If not, it would be worth talking to docs about trying that. Otherwise, it might be worth considering D&C as medical management has failed first time. For what it’s worth, I responded to the tablets and still had retained products so ended up with D&C anyway 5 weeks later... But that’s not you. Others on this board have their own experiences, and many went for D&C first off and are satisfied with the choice. Good luck to you, whatever you decide.

Thank you I’ve thought about this my body still hasn’t responded I can’t bare two more days of waiting and then need surgery anyway I did think of d&c first off but thought the less invasive option was sensible to choose, I was worried about damage for the future but I’ve spoken to someone who had d&c and went on to have three healthy babies so I think I will go for that, thank you so much for your response

@Susie94 - so sorry you are going through this. I would go for the d and c in your shoes - same happened to me and I had the d and c. Zero issues on my future fertility. Sending you a big hug. It’s the worst time but I promise it does get better x

So I opted for d&c they told me I had to wait 3 days for a slot I decided to take the second dose of misoprostol in the mean time as it felt like a long time to wait the pain was quite bad the first day then the second day not too bad just cramps, after this scan showed baby still there I wasn’t surprised at all, so opted for d&c the next day however I went home that evening waiting for d&c the next day and passed the baby myself, scan today confirmed all is gone and I am glad d&c was not required as I feel this process has made it more real and allowed me to get my head round what has happend as long and hard as it has been! I just wanted to add this on here and I searched so many things this might be helpful to someone 💔 I pray this never happens again I can now try to heal
