How long does it take for pg sypmtoms to go?

I started getting pg symptoms a week ago (boobs grew overnight, nausea etc). Got a bfp on Wednesday but on Thursday started bleeding lightly. BFP again on Thursday but on Friday morning started bleeding heavily so I'm guessing I've had an early miscarriage.
I've still got the pg symptoms though. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to go?

I am so sorry

I had a miscarriage last month. I am a bit weird in that at 6 weeks pregnant I have a very obvious pregnant belly, it took about two weeks for it to go down after the MC, in fact I actually got the bump the day after I started bleeding.

The next few weeks are going to be really hard, you will go through being sad and upset to angry and guilty, and much more, and I know this won't mean very much to you at the moment, but things do get easier. I still think about it all on an hourly basis, but I have come out of the other side.

I got a lot of support from people on MN, one person in particular who was going through the same thing at almost the same time.

Please be good to yourself, if you need to lock yourself away for a week and cry, do it.

Look after yourself xxx

sorry for your loss lyrasilvertongue. I had a mmc last month at 11+wks (baby had died at 9wks and had sore boobs still for about 2wks after. It took about a week for the bloated feeling to leave and clothes to feel normal again. The hormones were still and truly present but appeared to settle after I had an ERPC. I spent a fortune over the 11wks on pregnancy tests as my pg in july 07 had also ended as a complete early mc. The concultant at the EPU told me only to test once the next time and if it is bfp then retesting won't do any good as your baody may still be telling itself it's pregnant for a little while after you mc. If your pg symptoms aren't away in a couple of weeks I#'d see your GP or EPU. The earliest they will scan is 6wks anyway I think.

Hope that helps a little bit.

sorry for your loss lyra

I had an MC at 11 weeks, and was still getting BFPs till about four weeks afterwards, but the second one I had at 5.5 weeks, the test was negative two days later, but I still felt sore of boob and sick for about a week afterwards.

Look after and be kind to yourself. xx

Thanks ladies. i was wondering if the fact that my boobs are still big meant there was still some hope. I'll give it a week for the symptoms to go before I even think about retesting.

lyra, there have been lots of tales of bleeding on here with positive outcomes, so all my not be lost.

Do you have an early pregnancy unit nearby that you can access? Ours has a self referral policy and are happy to scan without a GP referral if there has been bleeding.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2008 14:28

We probably do but I'd be four weeks at the most, so too early to scan.
Thanks for your kind words everyone.
