Light Brown Spotting

Hi everyone,
This afternoon I started with some light brown spotting. It only is really noticeable after a wee when I wipe or on a tampon.

I'm so scared that this is a miscarriage and I can't seem to get my head around any other reason! I'm 5 weeks, 4 days.

Any advice? X

Don’t worry, it’s likely to be implantation. Brown is old blood.

call EPU to be sure but think you will be ok as happened to a few of us and everything is fine. I’m at the same stage as you.

sending hugs ❤️

It's very early.

There are several reasons why this could be happening.

The guidance is to call EPU. They may not even need you to come for a scan at this point.

I phoned community midwives earlier and they said it's nothing to worry about. Only worry is that I had one occasion after I peed today where it was slightly heavier, but since then it's been back to light brown discharge! I'm really hoping it is okay! Thank you x

@Beth98 hey OP - just wondering if you’re okay to share an update?
I’m in the same boat - 5+1 today and had light pink CM only when wiped then turned light brown through the day but a fair amount on the panty liner. Going to EPAU tomorrow morning but I know it’s too early to look at anything so I’m looking around MN for some good stories so I can sleep tonight

Hey! I went for a scan and they saw a gestational sac and yolk sac which was perfect in size and high up in my womb. I have a rescan tomorrow which I'm nervous about as it is to check they can see a foetal pole, but they didn't seem concerned that they couldn't see one before!

I've still been spotting on and off, but it's never got any worse apart from the odd brown stringy bit or clot, but the midwives said even that is quite normal x my tests are still extremely dark x

@Beth98 wow that sounds very positive. Good luck on the scan tomorrow! I had the exact same on my scan today (yolk sac, everything looked fine), another scan in 2 weeks!

Thank you! Think I'm nervous as the earliest I think I could have been at my scan was 5 +6 if not 6 weeks exactly. Seen so many posts claiming that you should see a fetal pole by 6 weeks...worried it's a blighted ovum or something if I can't see a fetal pole! 🥲

@Beth98 how did it go today? I’m hoping they saw the feral pole at this point? Xx

They did, but it's only 4.9mm with no heartbeat. Got another scan on Friday, but I've convinced myself it's a miscarriage as she said she would expect it to be bigger.

Don't worry. I've had a few cries, but me and my partner spoke and we feel more at peace with it now as we know a miscarriage this early simply means that the baby was never viable and it's my bodies way of protecting us 💗
