Still trying to conceive after MVA

Hi ladies ,

A little abit about me , I'm 34 , I've had two ectopic pregnancies both resolved themselves , 1 chemical pregnacy , followed by my rainbow baby in June 2021.

We decided to start trying for baby no2 and were extremely lucky to fall pregnant on our first month , sadly we had a silent miscarriage at 7.5 weeks and ended up having to have the MVA procedure in January.

We are now on cycle 6 of trying and still no luck (my cycles are 26 days and regular and doing OPKs . My concern is that with all my other pregnancies we fell pregnant first time trying. Can anyone share their story if they struggled to conceive after a MVA? And hopefully followed by a positive story?

I'm currently 9 dpo and and took a first response which was a BFN , I know its still early but I have zero syptoms so I don't think this will be our month .

I just feel so down about it all so I'd be so greatful to hear any positive stories .

Thank you.

Hi @Kirst318 unfortunately I don’t have a positive story to share but I am with you!

I had a mmc at 11 weeks (the baby had stopped growing at 6weeks) and a chemical before that.
Ive been very fortunate like you that with every pregnancy it was on our first attempt. I had mine at 33, 35 and got my chemical positive at 37.
I had my Mva 3months ago, we left it a month and have had 2 unsuccessful cycles now. I naively assumed that I would get pregnant again straight away and it’s hit me quite hard that I haven’t. I can’t really get my head around how it has all went so wrong.

My period just arrived this morning so back to ovulation testing in the next few weeks!

Hopefully others can share some positive stories 💜

Hi @xxcxdonxx ,

Thank you so much for replying, and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Like you I also thought I was fall pregnant straight away and can't help but think if the MVA procedure has caused some damage, I did call the hospital hoping for a reassurance scan but I had no luck.

Hopefully it come soon for both of us and we hear some positive stories 😊

@Kirst318 thats amazing news, congratulations!!! Thank you for sharing it too with me too 💜

Do you mind me asking if you did anything differently this month?
I’ve convinced myself that I have low progesterone levels as I’ve been spotting the last two cycles from one week post my lh peak so going to start taking the seven seas daily vitamins. I’m sure I took them before so hoping for more good luck with them.

So happy to hear your brilliant news, wishing you lots of luck xx

@xxcxdonxx thank you ❤️.

I can't say we did a great deal different , part of my fertile week was when I was on holiday and I was drinking , maybe because I was more relaxed? We did the deed every day during our fertile window but this month we continued it a few days after ovulation, I was also using pre-seed lube everytime where as the last few months i was only using it on my peak days.

Funny you say about spotting as on my cycles 3 and 4 after MVA I was spotting a few days before AF due which never happens !

Maybe after a MVA it takes a while for our bodies to heal ?

Xx

@Kirst318 aw a little holiday baby, that’s lovely news 🥰
Thanks for sharing, I know it’s a strange thing to ask!
I think the Mva has definitely messed with anything that was normal for me!

H8 @xxcxdonxx hope all is well with you ?

Sadly another missed miscarriage , looking to get another MVA booked soon x

@Kirst318 I’m so sorry to hear that, this process can be so cruel.
How are you feeling?

No news to share from my side unfortunately and feeling a bit fed up with it all.

Kirst318 · 27/07/2023 08:53

Hi @xxcxdonxx I just feel so fed up , i really wasn't expecting this to happen again. I was thinking about doing medical management but I was put off the fact that it's not guaranteed to work and you might end up having surgery anyways.

I found the MVA extremely painful but I guess the benefit is knowing its all done on that one day. I just hate this waiting process! I've got my final scan tomorrow and then I should get booked in for the MVA.

I'm so sorry there is no news your side ! I know how mentally challenging it is every month when AF arrives 🥺.

Have you spoken to your doctor ? My doctor actually agreed to start doing fertility testing due to the amount of pregancy looses I've had and also age and length of time it was taking me to conceive after MVA. I found out 2 days before my first lot of blood tests that I was pregnant so I obviously didn't go ahead.

Xx

I can totally see why you would be fed up, you have had a really tough time of it and it’s hard not to be disappointed by that.
I had opted for the Mva when I have mine too for the reasons you mentioned and to allow me some control of the situation.
I hope you manage to get booked in quickly.

I’ve not spoken to my doctor but I have thought about it as something has went wrong along the way. I think I’m nervous to find out what they might say. It’s really positive that your doctor will now start to do some testing, do you know what it all entails if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s a difficult time you are going through just now, I hope you are doing ok xx

I don’t have a positive story to add yet I’m afraid but I’m on cycle 5 of trying after my MVA and no luck. I too am worried something is different. I spoke to my GP who said it shouldn’t affect future fertility and my fiancé is a health professional who is of the some opinion. Just keep trying at this point I guess. Sorry wish I had something better to say! Wishing you all lots of luck with this moving forward. Maybe our bodies just need a bit of time to readjust.

Kirst318 · 08/11/2023 08:05

Hi @Sunflower2478 thanks for your message and wishing you lots of baby dust . I did end up conceiving on the 6th cycle but unfortunately it was another MMC. It's been a horrendous journey as I've had to have 4 erpcs for retained products! I'm now on progynova to help my lining and have a scan in December to confirm if we are okay to try again and also to make sure that all the surgeries hasn't caused ashermans syndrome 😩

Hi @Kirst318 i’m so sorry to hear you have had such a terrible time. Hopefully your scan in December brings some good news and a fresh start for the new year.

@Sunflower2478 I have a similar story to Kirst, I conceived on my 5th cycle after my Mva but again unfortunately it ended in a mc. I was due to have another Mva but ended up miscarrying at home and after a few scans it was confirmed to be complete. I did ask at the time about the procedures affect on future fertility but was told it was more just my body getting back to normal after it all. Wishing you lots of luck!

Sunflower2478 · 08/11/2023 09:57

Thanks so much and good luck to you as well!

Sunflower2478 · 08/11/2023 09:59

Thanks so much and sending lots of baby dust to you too! Sounds like you’ve had quite the time. Ashermans is rare so fingers crossed all is well.

did it take you ages for a gyno referral to come through? Or did your GP prescribe anything? I have two or three months to wait before my gyno appointment. Xx
