Still positive 4 weeks post d&c

Morning everyone,

I have an mvac or d&c via general anaesthetic 4 weeks ago, 2 days before I would have been 12 weeks but the baby passed around 8 weeks and then reabsorbed itself.

They rang me after 3 weeks to check on a pregnancy test , I used one that measured 25 Miu/ml instead of the early ones and it was faint positive. They've rang again today (4 weeks) and still positive (again still faint). They've booked me in for a rescan tomorrow.

I've started to get period style back cramping now. At what level of HCG can you get your period? Many others still been positive after 4 weeks and all been good?

Thanks x

@N400 I have had 3 losses this past year first took me 6 weeks to get a negative test, second took 10 weeks and i also passed a big piece of tissue with this one so imagine I had RPOC and I'm 4.5 weeks since the last one mine is still positive albeit faint but I do have some remaining tissue again they are hoping will come out at next af. I had a period before mine went negative

Thanks for this! I had a scan today and there's remaining tissue so we are going to see if my body passes it naturally first xxx such a nightmare it. They said this tissue is vasculitis it something, developed a blood supply, did you have this? Xxx

@N400 you too lovely ❤️ I do have blood supply with this current one but I'm due af next week as thankfully she could see I was due to ovulate when I had the scan so did a few opks to track it. Hopefully as your bleeding your body is thinking about getting rid of it! The one that took 10 weeks I didn't know I had rpoc unfortunately when I went to the EPU for a scan we had a tonne of snow and they were short staffed and I got fobbed off by a dr who clearly thought I was there for a joke. Wish I had insisted but hindsight is great 🙄 this time I'm actually having them done privately as part of my recurrent miscarriage investigations so that's handy not too much waiting for an appointment

I started bleeding very heavily for 2-3 days after this post. My tests went almost negative but seem to be getting stronger positive?! Did you have this too xxx

@N400 I haven't bothered testing this time as I knew they would be positive still. AF showed on Friday so hopefully my rpoc will pass I'll have a scan next week to confirm. The one that took 10 weeks to go I had very faint tests then a few that got stronger then they went faint again. I would ring the EPU and explain the situation they might scan you or do a couple of blood tests to see what the hcg is doing

Ahh thank you x so you got AF whilst still having positives? That's good to know! They told me there's no way I would ovulate or have a period whilst I stay positive but I swear they tell everyone different things x
That's reassuring to know your 10 week ones went stronger again at some point. I won't worry as much now, I was concerned about partial molars and the tissue being dodgy!
So sorry again you're going through this again and thank you for replying XXX sending positive thoughts and let me know how you get on at your next scan ❤️

@N400 yes I was still having faint positives just before I went for my scan at my scan she confirmed I was about to ovulate so you can def ovulate with a small amount of hcg in your system. In all the mc I never got a negative test before my period it was always after. Honestly I have been given such differing advice each time I do a little eye roll 🙄 lots of positive thoughts coming your way too I will do xxx

@N400 hey lovely just an update on my scan it's all clear no lingering tissue! Have you done anymore tests?

Thank you! Yes I'm still positive but I've definitely ovulated today as I've been keeping an eye on that too. So I'm hoping a period will clear it all :) XXX thank you and glad you're all clear x

Hi I’m going through the same thing as yours. I was 16 weeks pregnant. At first, I used medical management and everything couldn’t pass. After the scan they realised there’s retain product and this was removed through D&C. 3 weeks later, i did pregnancy test and it’s very faint line positive, for couple of days I was ovulating. Gynae said I should do a test again in the next 5days. I’m just tired and just want this to be over.
@N400 did you later test negative and your period back.

Hipww · 03/01/2024 10:44

@bringmearainbow hiya hun! So you can pass retained tissue with. Blood supply to them ! X

bringmearainbow · 03/01/2024 10:47

@Hipww yes you def can x

Hipww · 03/01/2024 11:15

That’s amazing what our bodies can do! Sorry to ask what did yours look like that passed? I had blood supply To mine and I think I’ve passed mine. X

Hipww · 03/01/2024 15:08

@N400 hiya what was your outcome? Did it pass naturally with the blood supply to it xx
