Worried about having a 2nd MMC

Hiya,

I'm starting to feel quite overwhelmed and panicking a lot today, I have my 12 week scan on Thursday 8th. Back in Dec 2022, I had a missed miscarriage, we found out at the 12 week scan that baby didn't have a heart beat and was measuring at around 9 weeks. I'm just so scared it's going to happen again, the pain physically and emotionally is something I never want to experience again. I have had 2 early scans, one at 6 weeks and one at 7 weeks, baby had a strong heart beat at both.

Statistically you are no more likely to have another mmc after having one.

I know it’s hard, I had many miscarriages before finally having a successful pregnancy and it did really take from the experience. For now just hold onto the fact that you’ve had two good scans which is a really good sign and try to be positive.

@B3AN23 so very sorry for your loss. I just had a MMC in April and it really is so horrible and I know that if/when I get pregnant again that 12wk scan is going to be so nerve-wracking. Unfortunately I don't think anyone can say anything that will make that feeling go away for you. Perhaps you need to find a mantra or something you can repeat to yourself when the nerves get really bad. Just something simple, not necessarily even baby related, just to keep yourself focused on your own resilience? Maybe,

"I am loved and I live in hope. I am strong and I will cope with whatever life throws my way"

Sorry if that's not helpful at all. I don't know if anything can be. Sending lots of love your way and everything crossed for a wonderful scan experience on Thursday. Keep us posted if you want to as would love to know how you get on. ❤️
