Positive tests after 2x medical management

I am now 15 days after my second medical management (this one for RPOC), done a test tonight and still strongly positive.

Is it possible that retained products are now gone but HCG is still in my system?

Can anyone with experience of this tell me how long it took for them to show negative on a HPT?

Thanks xx

Also I should add there is absolutely no chance it is a new pregnancy 🙃

@vjb39 I would contact EPU and ask if this is normal. sorry you are going through this 💔

I would contact the EPAU. I had similar after one of my miscarriages and had to go in for surgical management as sadly there was tissue left behind

@vjb39 my first took 6 weeks to get a negative test and my second took 10 weeks. Hcg can be pesky about hanging around

I don’t know the answer (I’m just behind you - deciding what to do about retained products after one round of medical management three weeks ago) but I wanted to send solidarity. All the waiting and uncertainty is shit. I hope you get some answers (EPU should scan, I think? But might make you wait another week) and everything sorted soon. X

I would contact EPU just to be on the safe side. I know hcg can stay in your system for a while so it may just be that, but also no harm in getting some advice from EPU for a scan just Incase there is anything retained x

@Oxalis00 I’m sorry to hear that 😔 it turns out I did have retained products even after the second dose so I went in for D and C last week! It was nowhere near as bad as I expected and kind of wish I had just gone for that straight away now rather than having the two failed doses of misoprostrol 😢 hopefully you are all sorted soon!x

Thanks for the update @vjb39 and glad you’re all sorted now. I don’t fancy a second round of medical management so will probably go for an MVC next week unless anything changes before then. I never knew how long this thing could drag!
