HCG 100,000+ but Blighted ovum

Hi everyone.

Had an early scan at 8+1 they saw an empty sac nothing in it. My uterus was SO tilted though so got me to fully fill my bladder to tilt it forward and saw a bubba measuring 7+5 and heartbeat.

Fast forward 10 days and the sac is empty. Referred to EPU. EPU today did a scan abdominal and internal and empty sac measuring 6ish weeks. Cyst in my left ovary so they said I needed bloods to rule out ectopic (couldn't take me previous private scan with HB into consideration). They said I'd have further bloods in 2 days to compare and then I can discuss options.

They rang and said I need a rescan in 1 week. My HCG and progesterone levels are elevated with HCG into the 100,000s.

Does this mean my body just thinks I'm pregnant still :( anyone else been through this?

Thank you

@N400 Hi OP,

Not much use to you here as I had my first MC in March but didn't want to read and run.

Firstly, sorry for your loss, it's a hard time and I'm sending you love and hugs xx

Secondly, from what I understand your HCG levels do stay elevated for a while after MC. I went into EPU after spotting and then it getting worse and my levels were really high. Once I was scanned at what should have been 11+4 I had 2 empty sacs measuring 6+5. But my HCG levels were as if I was still pregnant.

Hope this information helps and again sending you lots of love and TLC x

I have. 7 years ago I got pregnant and went for my scan at 12 weeks only to find an empty sac with nothing else really in it.

It was a bit of a head fuck because for 12 weeks I thought I was pregnant and was invested. It's really shit. Sending love 🫶🏻

I'm sorry you are going through this. I haven't had a blighted ovum, but 3 MC's (no children). I'm wondering if its twins or a molar pregnancy. I hope you are doing ok OP and keep us updated. Remember that this isn't your fault and you aren't alone Flowers
