I’m unsure if I’m miscarrying

Hi,

So I’ve had one positive pregnancy test (I haven’t done anymore) and it was a very strong line.

The next day, I started having brown discharge which has now turned to bright red blood. There’s about the same amount as a heavy period amount of blood.

I also feel so dizzy, not 100%, unwell (like a flu feeling). I’ve never miscarried before and I’m unsure what I do now?

Do I take another test? If it’s negative do i have to see a doctor? If it’s positive but I have all this pain, what do I do?

It could be a chemical pregnancy. It's where you "miscarry" within the first 5 weeks of pregnancy. I had one the cycle before last. We were TTC so when I didn't come on on my due date I did a test and tested positive and then started spotting the next day and then the day after I started bleeding and then it was just like a normal period.

If I hadn't been TTC I would have just assumed my period was a couple of days late.

It sounds like this is the same as you. If the bleeding continues and gets heavier then I would say there isn't a pregnancy this month. If you're worried then call the Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital but it's unlikely they will see you as there's very little they can do but if you're having bleeding that is soaking though pads in an hour or you are in a lot of pain then call them.

Thank you for your reply. I had no idea what a chemical pregnancy was until now so thank you.

I’ve just tested again and I’m still testing positive. I thought with all the bleeding I wouldn’t. I’ll look into the early pregnancy unit at my hospital. Thank you again.

You will still test positive for a while until your HCG drops again. I would wait a couple of weeks then test again but if you're worried in the meantime call the EPU x
