Natural MC - is it normal to still be in pain after passing sac

Hey all,

About 10 days ago I started spotting and then at the beginning of this week a scan at the EPU confirmed a non viable pregnancy.

On Weds and Thurs eve, I had really sharp pains, increased blood and clots and I'm pretty certain I passed the sac on Thurs night.

I felt a bit better on Fri morn, however last night and today I am still in serious pain. There doesn't seem to be much blood (a bit, but like a light period) or clots, but the cramps are so bad that even with the max dose of ibuprofen and a hot water bottle, I can't stand up or walk.

Just wondering if it's normal to be in pain/cramping after you think you've passed the pregnancy? I am not due in the EPU for a follow up scan for another 10 days :/

I had this - a night of pain more severe than what I experienced before and during the miscarriage itself. Exactly as you describe. It freaked me out but I read online that it can happen with the uterus contracting so I figured that's what it was. With me it had totally stopped being painful about 3 days after passing the sac but assume as with everything everyone is different.
Sorry for your loss and that you're still in pain, I hope it eases soon.

@Hankthehonk - thank you for responding! That's really helpful to know it could be the uterus contracting

Sorry for your loss too. Hope you're better these days.

@KokoNights Hi sorry for your loss 💔 I went to get medical management today to miscarry and they told me if I get severe pains or really heavy blood for hours I have to phone them as it should be bearable and pain killers should help 😢 I would phone the hospital or if they gave you a number for them? I have a number but not sure if we stay close sending you love and hugs 🤗♥️ xx

If the pain is that bad I would contact the EPU. Sometimes some tissue can get stuck in the cervix and cause a lot of pain.

I had. MMC that was discovered on Friday and I had medical management Saturday night. I'm still having bleeding and period like cramps but hope they settle down soon.

So sorry for your loss
