I tested positive last week, which really threw me, and after a few days of panic, (I'm on the pill but I had Covid earlier in the year, and missed at least one day when I was sick) I started to feel cautiously optimistic.
I estimated I'd be at about 9 weeks because my last period was valentine's day.
Unfortunately last night I started to feel really crampy and then early this morning I started bleeding, a lot, with tissue coming out.

From all I can find online, the baby should have been, well, bigger than what's come out.
The bleeding has started to slow now, and I'm worried that there's more tissue left behind, and what to do now? Or if this even was a miscarriage, although I'm clutching at straws I know
I'm sorry if this all sounds crass. My child is nearly 20 now, and I've long forgotten anything I ever knew about pregnancy, so I don't know the right terminology to use. Every website says something different.

I’m sure my private scan at around that stage said baby was about the size of a baked bean… so it’s possibly right?
Sorry for your loss… though I’d test again in a week or so, or with a clear blue with date range in a few days. And get medical advice if you feel unwell at all etc.

Thank you for the advice, I guess this is it then.

I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks, it was sac about the size of a satsuma with fluid inside, I didn’t look inside as I was upset and I buried it quickly but it was a lot more substantial than that, not the baby the whole thing!

It could be a fetus from about 5/6 weeks. I had a miscarriage at 8.5 weeks and the sac was about the size of the palm of my hand.

I would call EPU, they should offer to scan you.

Sending you lots of love

I had an abortion at 9/10 weeks (it was just on the cusp of still being able to take tablets).

Anyway, what I saw was much bigger and you could tell what it was, if that makes sense.

Hi, I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. It is possible for a non viable foetus to stop growing before you pass it (I’m sorry if that’s horrible terminology, I was desperately trying to find words that were tactful and probably failed).
As PP have said, maybe test again in another week. It does look as though it could be a miscarriage.
I hope you’re doing ok.

Thank you so much for all your replies and your kindness. I passed a couple of much bigger pieces over the course of the afternoon, and I think it's safe to say that that's probably it now.

EPU around here are referral only, and I don't have anyone to refer me, I didn't have time to let my GP know I was pregnant. 111 online said to go to the walk in centre, which I might do in the morning. I should have gone this afternoon perhaps, but the pain was too bad and I didn't want to stray too far from the toilet.

I feel strangely bereft. I was strongly considering an abortion after I found out - I'm in my 40s and I couldn't imagine at the age of 60, being the proud parent of a 38 year old and an 18 year old. I don't know if keeping it would have been fair on anyone.

I guess it's not a choice I have to make now.
