Have I miscarried?

Hi I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago but last weekend I started having excruciating pains and then bleeding really heavy passing clots and tissue (sorry for TMI) I am still bleeding now quite heavy. I done a pregnancy test thinking I must have had a miscarriage but it’s still saying I’m pregnant and even changed the number of weeks (clearblue digital). I guess my question is is this a miscarriage and you still test positive for a while or not ? I already have 3 children and I had spotting slight bleeding through the whole of my pregnancies but never this ! Thanks

I am so sorry for what you are currently experiencing. I had a mc last year, what you have described is very similar to what I went through - sorry to say. I contacted my midwife about it (I found out I had mc at an early private scan, so it was confirmed for me and I started to naturally mc the next day). The midwife advised I had to wait at least two weeks before taking a test, as any earlier could still show up as positive. I was advised to take a test after two weeks to ensure my body had "successfully passed the pregnancy".

My advice to you would be (if you haven't already), try and contact your midwife, EPU or GP to see if they can run any tests or perhaps a scan for you to determine what's going on.

My reply really isn't to make you worry anymore than you probably already are. But just wanted to offer some advice for you. Here if you need a chat.

Sending lots of love your way ❤

It does sound like it, I'm really sorry OP. If you are past 6 weeks your EPU should see you. And yes pregnancy tests stay positives for a while after as it takes a while for the HCG hormone to leave your body

If you’ve passed tissue and you were soaking pads there’s a possibility it is a miscarriage. You’ll need a scan to say for sure. You can bleed in pregnancy and it still be viable pregnancy.

I'm sorry you are going through this @LGM89. As others have said, it sounds like you'd be best to contact your Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (or go to A&E for support if the pain is unbearable or if you feel you are bleeding heavily- filling pads quickly).
They will most likely need to book a scan for you to determine what is happening, as tests can stay positive for a while. Sending love x
