Miscarriage at 6 weeks - what happens next?

I found out I was pregnant in February and unfortunately lost the pregnancy earlier this week, at 6 weeks. As it was so early, both the hospital and GP said there was no need for a scan as it wouldn't have shown much at this stage.
The bleeding has now nearly stopped and I'm wondering if I need a scan to check everything has passed. Did anyone else have this at this stage or is it a matter of waiting until any pregnancy test is negative? I'm just not sure on the right way forward.

So sorry for you. I would wait three weeks and then test. If it's negative that's that. If it's positive you may need a scan for retained products.

4 mc, all varied between 6-10 weeks. All IVF.
The only time I was offered a scan was when I had been bleeding continually for over 5 weeks. It had stopped by the time I got to clinic 6 weeks after I had first started bleeding so they redid a pregnancy test (was still positive one week previously) and, because it was negative they did nothing.

The advice I was given after the first time was that, unless there was an odour or it was super heavy and continued for an extended period, there was no need for any examination.

I’m sorry for your loss. Flowers

I agree with all of the advice above, but just wanted to say I'm sorry Flowers It will get easier. Thinking of you.

So sorry for your loss.

I found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago, I worked out I should be around 6 weeks, I went for a scan as was unsure of dates and they said they couldn’t see anything. My HCG was going down so they told me the pregnancy was not viable and a week later I bled, not too heavily but there were clots. I carried on testing until I got a negative and tried to move on. Two weeks later I took a test as felt a little off and it was blazing positive!! What could have happened? I have only had sex twice since this positive and that was before I miscarried (bled). Surely it can’t be a new pregnancy!? I’ve got a scan next Monday but until then I’m beside myself with worry. A molar pregnancy was mentioned on my first scan as I had what they called “cystic spaces” but then this was shut down due to my hcg being so low, 250 beta, then 128, then 57.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? And had any kind of happy outcome? I’m meant to be going away to Spain for my 30th today and it’s all I can think about, not to mention I’ve got a feeling my partner is going to propose after 3 years together and I just don’t feel I can be happy about anything right now 😪
