Hello, I had a medical miscarriage on Friday and on Sunday, this came out of me after severe cramping. I have had a MMC before but nothing this big came out. Is this normal? I was horrified but EPU said it sounds normalish?!
sorry for the graphic image. I was around 9 weeks but baby had no heartbeat.

It’s a bit hard to tell size from that but large clots are normal. As long as it’s not continuous

I'm sorry for your loss.

This looks like retained tissue rather than clots. I lost my baby over Christmas at 19 weeks. I laboured but then also had to have an emergency D&C after the birth for retained placenta. I ended up passing further tissue similar to this at home with lots of pain and cramping around 3 weeks later.

My local obstetric triage weren't remotely concerned - only if excessive bleeding or signs of infection followed - but GP put me on further antibiotics in case of infection and I had to monitor bleeding and clots again as they got a bit heavier.

If you have any further pain, push for a scan to ensure there is no further tissue remaining.

Thank you both. Sorry for your loss @blondie272203

I suspect this is the tissue, and sac was in there. It was 48hours after I took the meds. I am still bleeding but just like a heavy period now which I know can last a few weeks. I plan to get scanned when the bleeding stopped.
