HCG level - missed miscarriage?

Hiya, looking for thoughts on my situation. I had an internal scan when I thought I was 7 wk 5 days. No heartbeat and measuring at 6wk 1 day. Doctor said it might be early MC or my dates are off.
I had HCG of 20,000 and then two days later it went up to my surprise to 23,000. If it was a MC, would HCG always go down or would it only go up if the pregnancy was growing?
My progesterone is low at 7 and then 7.2 two days later. I have another scan in 4 days, looking for any insights? Would you expect to see a heartbeat at 6 wk 1 day on internal
scan? Was expecting a MC and my HCG to decline so now confused. Thank you.

Unfortunately unless you're really unsure of your dates this does sound like a miscarriage, I'm sorry :(

With my second miscarriage growth slowed down before it stopped completely so it could be that causing the small rise in HCG.

Are you still having any pregnancy symptoms?

Thanks, I thought the same. Just felt strange that by the doctors measurements growth stopped 2 weeks ago and still HCG is rising a little.

My symptoms have been mild throughout, I still feel a little sickness. But nowhere near as bad with my first which makes sense.

thank you

when I had my missed miscarriage, I was told the hormones come from the placenta .. I had a scan at 10 weeks and was still getting strong preg symptoms etc no bleeding, but baby had stopped developing at around week 5 .. I was 11 weeks before it all came away .. so the baby was not dead for 6 weeks in my with me still get symptoms and rising hcg until it came away naturally at 11 weeks .. so your body can still produce hormones even though baby may not be developing any more
