Ovulation after pregnancy loss

Hi everyone
I sadly had a mc which started with bleeding on 1st Jan and I believe I miscarried completely on 2nd Jan this year. It was confirmed as a complete miscarriage on 4th Jan with a scan. I bled until Saturday 7th and I have been taking hcg tests everyday which are getting lighter - as of today, they are basically squinters. I was 6weeks 2 days and things happened quickly and with little pain.
I'd like to try again ASAP as my husband works away and it's difficult to plan these things.
I have a very regular cycle - usually 27 or 28 days but I've not really tracked ovulation before so not sure when I typically ovulate - I guess probably around day 13 but not sure.
I am wondering if people can share when they ovulated after their mc? I've become confused by reading online as some have said 2 weeks later but was this 2 weeks after bleeding started or 2 weeks after bleeding stopped?
Or am I unlikely to ovulate until 2 weeks after HCG has fully gone? I am getting myself confused. I can only see ranges online but not sure if the range is smaller for your next period if the mc was early.
I'm going to track BBT and use OPKs too but I'm just interested in others experiences. Could this happen as early as this Sunday as this was 2 weeks from the start of the MC?
Also, I already have one ds who is 18 months and I'm still breastfeeding. No idea if this has any bearing on things but it was a straight forward pregnancy and birth with him.
Thanks so much in advance!

@HollyBrwn so sorry you are going through this, hope you are doing okay.

On this thread, we have had quite varied experiences of ovulating after loss. Some of us ovulated quite soon after (I ovulated on day 20, with day 1 being the start of bleeding - this is about 1 week later than normal for me), whereas others have found that they didn't show a peak on ovulation kits until after their first period after the loss.

My ovulation kits were clear with very dark lines both on the cheap kits and the smiley on CB. I then conceived straight away so must have been accurate. Are you finding the lines are strong positives on the cheap strips yet? I read some advice that unless it's a clear positive, you may not have ovulated - this helped me. I personally found it helpful to track my ovulation but others have found it made them more stressed - so I would recommend doing whatever works best for you.

Really wishing you lots of luck on this journey. We've had a lot of success stories so far so hope it happens for you too.

@AnotherEllie I only bleed for two days really and then I waited a week to start ovulation testing. I am on day 10 of the flashing smiley face 🙃😩 I am going to stick with it and try to remain positive with it and hopefully get the peak day soon!
I will attach the picture of my strip tests.

It has been lovely reading everyone's success stories after there MC. Hopefully I get mine too 🤞🏻🤍

@HollyBrwn wishing you lots of luck! It's still early days so every chance you will ovulate in the coming days and weeks!

I know even if there is a small amount of HCG in your system, this can show up on LH tests as the hormones are similar - is there a chance that could be happening? I think it took a couple of weeks before I had a fully negative pregnancy test and then I conceived about one week after that.

My LH strips were really dark when I had my peak. (Just checked, here is the pic).

I think sticking with it is a good strategy!

Hi everyone, lovely to see the community here! I have a question about ovulation after MC - has anyone found that it feels different? I’ve noticed the last few months (since MC) I feel dizzy a few days before, and I’m having some lower abdominal discomfort this eve and I’m wondering if it’s related. TBF I got pregnant very soon after coming off the pill so haven’t really had many cycles to compare it to, so don’t know if it’s MC related or just my body! But I’d really welcome thoughts from others with similar experiences around ovulation. Thanks.

HollyBrwn · 10/08/2023 20:01

@AnotherEllie Hmm maybe, I didn't take another pregnancy test after the one I took on the Tuesday night (the same day I had my scan and they couldn't see anything) and it was basically negative. I might take one though just to double check.

I will definitely still stick with it. Thank you! X

Just here to read similar stories. I'm currently 3 weeks post surgical management, 2 weeks since bleeding completely stopped and onto day 8 of flashing smileys since I got a negative pregnancy test! It's so frustrating, my usual is 4 flashing smileys and on the month I conceived it was only 2 days! I really want to ovulate soon so we can try again and also so I know my cycle is going back to normal. This is my second MMC but my first was 4 years ago and the only bit I remember is that I got a negative test 2 weeks after surgery, because we didn't try again right away. Thanks to everyone sharing their stories - really helps remind me I'm not alone right now x

HollyBrwn · 10/08/2023 21:22

@moosey89 I feel you with the flashing smiles, I am on day 10 of them 🥺 but I am going to try and stick with it and keep testing.
Sorry to hear about your heartbreaking journey 💔❤️

moosey89 · 10/08/2023 21:24

@HollyBrwn sorry you're going through this journey too - it really sucks! Fingers crossed we both get off of flashing smileys and onto that static soon xx

HollyBrwn · 10/08/2023 21:40

@moosey89 fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I am keeping everything crossed and trying to be positive 🩷🌈

moosey89 · 10/08/2023 21:45

@HollyBrwn I'll follow your lead! I guess I've got a feeling of anxious excitement? I really, really just want to try again and know my body is back doing its thing!x

HollyBrwn · 10/08/2023 21:47

@moosey89 Yeah I am in complete agreement with you their! My biggest fear isn't about having another MC at this stage, it's about how long it will take me to fall pregnant again 🥺 and I know I shouldn't really think like that but as you say I just wanted to try again xx

moosey89 · 10/08/2023 22:07

@HollyBrwn I totally get it - the losses are horrible, but the thought of it taking so long potentially is worse for me too. Because I'm 35 in Feb I'm giving it 8 months before going to the doctor to talk about a referral for fertility treatment (as I can do that once trying for 6 months and being over 35) xx

LMM91x · 11/08/2023 07:32

Hey ladies - sorry you've found yourself here. I really do hope some of our stories provide you with the hope you need to push through, it's the hardest time and the fear of the unknown after a MC really is crippling.

that flashing face of doom on the clear blue tests WILL change - your body has been through a lot and is trying to regulate itself back to a pattern. I think I had flashing for around 10 days and then I did hit peak and ovulated and fell immediately so sending you lots of baby dust🥹💖xxxxxxxx

moosey89 · 11/08/2023 08:49

@LMM91x thank you - today is day 9 of flashing for me, I'm hoping to get a peak soon. I'd love to fall pregnant right away, but I won't be heart broken if it doesn't. I just want my body/hormones to get back to normal, even if that means having my period etc x

LMM91x · 11/08/2023 08:56

@moosey89 absolutely that's all you can hope for at this stage 💖

HollyBrwn · 11/08/2023 10:07

@LMM91x I am on day 11 of the flashing face 🥺 it's so disheartening seeing that but I really am going to stick with it and hopefully it changes soon 🤞🏻 xx

HollyBrwn · 11/08/2023 10:09

@moosey89 Yeah I can understand your anxiety around that as well. It's such a vicious circle isn't it 🥺 hopefully we get our solid smile soon 🤞🏻🌈 xxx

moosey89 · 11/08/2023 10:18

Thanks @HollyBrwn - day 9 of flashing for me! I also got a Mira fertility tracker which gives you the actual level of the hormones in your urine not just a yes/no and my LH is super low! So feels like I'm still a little way off ovulation yet x

HollyBrwn · 11/08/2023 10:38

It really is so disheartening @moosey89 but definitely try and stick with it 🤞🏻 one day we will be shocked when we get that static smile 😂🩷 xx

moosey89 · 11/08/2023 10:48

@HollyBrwn thank you, I definitely will do. Fingers crossed!xx

HollyBrwn · 11/08/2023 10:55

It's good we are here to support one another and at least understand what we are going though xx @moosey89

moosey89 · 12/08/2023 08:46

@HollyBrwn day 10 of flashing smiley now!x

HollyBrwn · 12/08/2023 22:21

I feel you @moosey89 I am day 11 😩😓 xx

HollyBrwn · 13/08/2023 10:19

Sorry @moosey89 I am now actually on day 13 😓 xx

moosey89 · 13/08/2023 14:44

Day 11 for me today! Mad how much it can mess with your cycle isn't it xx
