Ovulation after pregnancy loss

Hi everyone
I sadly had a mc which started with bleeding on 1st Jan and I believe I miscarried completely on 2nd Jan this year. It was confirmed as a complete miscarriage on 4th Jan with a scan. I bled until Saturday 7th and I have been taking hcg tests everyday which are getting lighter - as of today, they are basically squinters. I was 6weeks 2 days and things happened quickly and with little pain.
I'd like to try again ASAP as my husband works away and it's difficult to plan these things.
I have a very regular cycle - usually 27 or 28 days but I've not really tracked ovulation before so not sure when I typically ovulate - I guess probably around day 13 but not sure.
I am wondering if people can share when they ovulated after their mc? I've become confused by reading online as some have said 2 weeks later but was this 2 weeks after bleeding started or 2 weeks after bleeding stopped?
Or am I unlikely to ovulate until 2 weeks after HCG has fully gone? I am getting myself confused. I can only see ranges online but not sure if the range is smaller for your next period if the mc was early.
I'm going to track BBT and use OPKs too but I'm just interested in others experiences. Could this happen as early as this Sunday as this was 2 weeks from the start of the MC?
Also, I already have one ds who is 18 months and I'm still breastfeeding. No idea if this has any bearing on things but it was a straight forward pregnancy and birth with him.
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi all

hope everyone is well!

can I ask how long it took to for everyone to stop bleeding? Mine has slowed down now thank God. Hopefully in a week it will be gone completely.

I took a pregnancy test on day 5 and that was a blazing positive but today on day 8 it’s not so strong.

My OPK on the other hand is as strong as ever!

will defo give my body and mind a rest till the next cycle.

apart from Folic acid what else should I take?

TIA X

@Blessedmummytobe I think the bleeding stopped after around 7 days for me but I think I had an uncomplicated experience (no medical intervention needed and pretty much painless) - and it can vary quite a lot.

I had a negative test around 2 weeks after then ovulated around day 20 - if that helps. I was advised to contact EPU if still positive after 3 weeks.

Hope you are doing okay! Definitely give yourself a rest if that's what you need.

I didn't take anything other than Folic Acid and conceived straight away. I think this was mainly because I tracked ovulation closely. Others may have some good advice though about things that worked for them!

@Blessedmummytobe I lost my pregnancy around 6-7 weeks, natural and relatively pain free, I stopped bleeding after around 6 days. I either didn’t ovulate or I ovulated very early the first cycle, around day 8-10 if you count the day of heaviest bleeding as day 1. That first cycle was 32 days, a few days longer than my normal cycle, I got a negative hcg after 3 weeks and the following cycle I conceived. I also tracked my ovulation and took vit d and folic acid.

Blessedmummytobe · 06/06/2023 16:38

Thanks @AnotherEllie and @Travellingislife

I have also been quite fortunate that I had had no real pain or severe cramping.

Today is day 13 and bleeding has completely stopped (around day 9/10) and nonpink when wiping.

Pregnancy test are still feint positive but defo getting lighter. My OPKS are still positive so may start casually having sex again mainly as I’m horny and actually crave that closeness from my OH.

I’ll keep you all updated. Thanks for the support x

After my mc early May I ovulated 3 weeks later and now on my period, day 2. I was advised that my first period would be heavier and more painful but so far it has been very mild on the pain front and normal flow. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Blessedmummytobe · 25/06/2023 08:07

Hi everyone.

hope you are all getting on well with pregnancies and hopefully some more BFP’s.

im now technically 3/4 (depending on which app I use!) late but not sure what to make of it as I know your cycle can change by days and weeks after a MC.

I was finally discharged from the hospital when my HCG was at 545 I took a test after that and it was negative. Since then I have had a faint positive (can’t post as not at home) but I’m not sure if that’s a rogue test or I’m actually pregnant again!

@TTCbaby2023 I believe they can be heavier and clothier or lighter. Probably just depends on your body.

sending love and hope to everyone 🌈❤️

Blessedmummytobe · 29/06/2023 15:57

@Jb2189 Congratulations 🌈❤️

still waiting for my period to show up since my mc 🥹

Jb2189 · 29/06/2023 17:48

@LMM91x aw so glad to hear all is going well! I just don't want to get excited yer as had a mmc in March so it's hard haha

@Blessedmummytobe sorry to hear, when did you have your mc? I bled for about 2 weeks After my mc and then had a period maybe 2 weeks after I had stopped bleeding

Blessedmummytobe · 29/06/2023 17:52

@Jb2189 I first bled on 24th May. Stopped bleeding around 2nd/3rd of May. I thought it would be here now as I wasn’t so far gone and HCG levels were low to start with. Confused and anxious.com x

Blessedmummytobe · 29/06/2023 18:05

2nd/3rd of June*

LMM91x · 29/06/2023 18:16

@Jb2189 yes I know - I fell straight after my MMC so I can appreciate how hard it is, I'm not sure I even quite believe it's all ok until baby is here xxx

Travellingislife · 30/06/2023 05:40

@Jb2189 congratulations! It is an anxious time but try and enjoy it and be happy.
I’m soon 22 weeks and I’m very grateful, I’ve been worried but I’ve really tried to let it go as it won’t change the outcome.

@Blessedmummytobe my first cycle was longer, I think I got my period about 5 weeks after the main bleeding, and I’ve seen a lot of people saying the same. I remember that time, it’s really hard waiting for it when you just want to start ttc again!

@LMM91x feeling the movement is lovely isn’t it! I’ve just started to feel it as I’ve got an anterior placenta.

LMM91x · 30/06/2023 06:39

@Travellingislife it's the best thing ever ever ever!! So surreal, can't believe it still 🥺
luckily i'm posterior so as of the last few days hitting 24 weeks they are feeling like full boots !!!

Jb2189 · 30/06/2023 11:57

Turns out it was a chemical pregnancy or 4 dodgy tests (2 diff brands) as I started bleeding heavy today. Oh well back to trying again 🙈

Blessedmummytobe · 30/06/2023 12:41

@Jb2189 sorry to hear that ❤️🌈

LMM91x · 02/07/2023 00:41

@Jb2189 so sorry to hear that. Sending lots of baby dust xxxxxxx

Travellingislife · 02/07/2023 06:09

@Jb2189 I’m so sorry 😞

Hello everyone

Permit me to jump on this post

It has been such an interesting read and has given me so much hope.

I had a mc today after 5years of trying since my first baby and I have been devastated. Been a nightmare really and going through the posts and seeing that I am not alone as people have gone through the same phase at some point in time gives me some relief.

what makes the feeling worse for me is my husband is moving to a new city more than 6hours away in less than a month and as a medical practitioner, we don’t have any clear cut days we would meet except during his free days l, which I just learnt has to be carefully planned.

Going through this thread has been a HUGE source of encouragement to me and I want to thank everyone for their contribution.

I have learnt so much and hope to do more research to understand my body better and plan my next pregnancy

you all are amazing

Wish everyone already pregnant a safe delivery. For the rest of us TTC, we’ve got this😊😊

AnotherEllie · 17/07/2023 13:54

@Fubi I'm so sorry to read of your experience but glad this thread provided some comfort - there is definitely hope after loss.

I understand the anxiety around your partner being away too - my husband frequently works away and I became very stressed about TTC, particularly with not knowing when my cycle would come.

Nevertheless, my husband and I conceived straight after my loss - and we managed to finish his work trip a day early when I got a flashing smiley on ClearBlue ovulation sticks! Now 28 weeks pregnant!

Sending you lots of luck on your journey ahead!

So here I am again. Tested positive today at 9 dpo after having a chemical last month. Here's hoping this one sticks!

I just had a private scan at ultrasound direct on Thurs as well to check my womb etc and progestorone bloods to make sure everything looked OK.

Blessedmummytobe · 22/07/2023 21:11

Congratulations @Jb2189 🤞🏾❤️

LMM91x · 23/07/2023 07:17

@Jb2189 🤞🤞❤️❤️ congratulations!

Hi, I thought I would jump on this thread as I can relate so much.

I have PCOS and we have been TTC for just over 2 half years.
It has just been over two weeks since I MC. I started bleeding on the Saturday (I have had heavier periods) think I may have passed on the Sunday morning as there was quite a lot of blood in my urine, but again not really all that heavy and cramping wasn't terrible either. I was spotting slightly on the Monday but bleeding had completely stopped come the Monday night so really I only bleed for two days and it wasn't heavy at all.
Got a scan on the Tuesday and they didn't see anything so figured I may have already passed. Got bloods taken to check HCG levels and then repeated on the Thursday when MC was confirmed. My HCG levels had dropped.
I took a pregnancy test on the Tuesday night which was basically negative and then going with the blood tests I didn't bother taking another one.

I started ovulation testing the following Monday with clear blue. It was just the circle which means low fertility but come the Tuesday it went to the flashing smiley face but I am on day 9 of the flashing smile so no peak day as of yet and it's frustrating me so much.
I am also doing the cheap strip ones which the lines are dark on them but I am just feeling so frustrated that I am getting the flashing smile. I am trying to be positive and think along the lines of, well at least I am building up to ovulation but I'm worried in case I don't get that peak day 😓

My biggest fear isn't about MC again it's the fear of me not falling pregnant for another 2 half years.
