Missed miscarriage

Hi all, I have been told that I am likely having a missed miscarriage as I went for a private early scan last week but only measured 6+1 when I should have been 9+2 based on LMP. I have been back for a second scan a week later and the baby has only grown to 6+2. A heartbeat couldn’t be found in either scan

I was just wondering what people’s experiences have been like with either medical management or surgical management? I have spoken to my local EPU and because my scans were private, they won’t take them into account and want to do their own which is dragging this out even longer :( I want to try & decide which option is best so this can be over asap :(

Hi, very sorry for your loss - same thing happened to me in August, baby had stopped at 8+4 and I only found out at a 10 week scan...I chose the pill route, kind of like suppositories that they insert and it triggers the miscarriage. It was like a heavy period and I was able to miscarry at home which made a big difference in the awfulness of it all. No after-effects and I only needed 1 dose. I chose this option as I wasn't keen on surgical and didn't want to wait once I knew. Had another miscarriage a month ago and did the same thing...let's hope 2023 is luckier and kinder to us, good luck 😘

I had one and took the pills. It was fine but for me it did drag out & took a month for the bleeding to fully stop. In good news I didn't miscarry again & now have 2 healthy girls. Good luck & sorry you are going through this.

Hi, we had our 12 week scan on Wednesday 28th December and found out baby hadn't progressed past 7 weeks. I chose surgery and they had me in Thursday 29th. I was happier to be unaware of it all, and it is now done rather than the pills where I'd likely still be going through it now. I wanted to go with whichever got it over sooner so if they hadn't got me in for surgery so quick I would've likely chosen the other. Now having NYE at home with my fiance hugging each other and crying. Hope you're as ok as you can be.

@strawberry6 so sorry that you're going through this. I'm in a similar position, meant to be 9+4 but found out the baby had stopped growing at 7+3. My body hasn't realised and I'm not spotting or bleeding so I'm booked in for surgical management in a few days. I just want it done with and to not have to see anything (although I appreciate it would be very small at this stage).

Hi op, I'm sorry this is happening to you. I was very sad when I went through similar.
I found out about a missed miscarriage at the 12 week scan. I had noticed a big drop off in symptoms around 9 weeks. I started bleeding lightly on the day of the scan so opted for conservative managements and just let nature take its course at home. The miscarriage had completed within about a week and a half as I recall- after a couple of days of cramping and heavier bleeding (manageable with hot water bottle and paracetamol) the gestational sac dropped in to the toilet when I went for a wee. I then had a scan to check everything was out.

I was quite worried during the first trimester of my next pregnancy but I didn't have another miscarriage.

I was the same @tttc2022 - just couldn't bare the thought of seeing anything, I'm really glad I went with that option.
