First period after miscarriage

Hello. I had a miscarriage (at roughly 8 weeks) just over 4 weeks ago and have been waiting for my period to come back. Yesterday morning I woke up with the familiar cramps/feeling that I was getting my period but weirdly the bleeding never came. Today I also had the cramps and this afternoon I started bleeding a little. Assuming this was the beginning of my period I put a tampon in, but when I took the tampon out around 3 hours later there was only a very small amount of brownish blood on it. Since then I have been spotting lightly but no proper period bleeding, although I definitely have the cramps. Has anyone else who had an early miscarriage experienced something similar? Is my period coming or is this bleeding from something else?

I’ve also recently had a miscarriage and had a D&C 6 weeks ago. I have yet to have any signs of a period but from what I’ve read what you’re describing sounds quite normal.. lots of people have one and off bleeding. Have you done a pregnancy test? Just good to make sure it’s negative as if not it could be retained products. I had these hence the surgery.

@stardust1994 thank you so much for your reply. I’m so sorry to hear you are going through a similar situation, I do hope your period turns up soon! I took a pregnancy test a couple days ago and it was negative so I don’t think it’s retained product. Since I wrote the original post I’ve had a little more bleeding but definitely not as much as a normal period, I’m still bleeding on and off now too, wish it would just stop. You’re right though from everything I’ve seen online I guess it’s common. I hope our bodies go back to normal soon, I just want to feel like myself again! Lots of love ❤️

I feel exactly the same @Isabellamt. I found out about my miscarriage in October and it’s been dragging on forever because I had retained products after medical management. Can’t wait to get my period and feel normal again 🤞

@stardust1994 I’m so sorry, that sounds so horrible :( It’s such an awful thing to happen, nobody should have to go through it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for me and for you for next time, we deserve good luck ❤️❤️❤️
