Can I wait for management over Christmas?

I had a 6 week scan today that showed an empty gestational sac. Certain of dates as ivf. Been referred to EPU to rule out ectopic and for further management but I wondered if anyone knew if they’d let me wait to do anything until after Christmas? I have other children at home :(

Hi, I don’t know the answer but didn’t want to read and run. So sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been there a few times xx

Yes you will probably have the choice to just wait a couple of weeks and see if it resolves naturally. Sending lots of love.

Thank you for replying. The waiting is horrible isn’t it. That’s hopeful that maybe they’ll let me wait till after Christmas. What a crap time of year for it all too :(

It’s crap - so sorry. I had similar situation after IUI so not nearly as invasive or stresssful as IVF. I really feel for you. As it’s still relatively early they will probably let you wait a bit as pp says xx

I had an ivf pregnancy that briefly had a heartbeat. I had sort of the opposite problem as I had a scan at a private clinic to show the pregnancy had ended then another scan the next day at epu but they insisted I come back 7 days later before they'd give me medical management (suppositories to bring on the mc) as they wouldn't accept the private clinic place, despite it being a specialist recurrent miscarriage clinic, so very medical. I would guess they'd also want to do two scans a week apart for you and they'll probably give you the option to just wait until it happens naturally. Sorry you're going through this, it's incredibly shitty. I hope it goes as smoothly as it can.
