Miscarriage recovery

I sadly had a miscarriage last week. I ended up in hospital because the blood loss was quite severe and I became unwell. I am now at home recovering and starting to slowly feel better but I wanted to ask anyone who may have experienced a similar situation a few questions -

Did you make a full recovery and go back to being the same person (physically) as you were before? I am generally a healthy person who is quite light on my feet and energetic, I’m scared that after this I won’t go back to being this way.

How long did it take you to full recover physically? I know it’s only been a few days for me but all I want is to feel better and be able to get on with my life.

Did your periods come back the same as they were before this? I used to have a regular, relatively light flow and not too much pain, is this likely to change now? Also how long roughly did it take for your period to come back?

When is it possible/safe to have sex again? I don’t mean trying for a baby again, I just mean normal, protected sex.

Thank you so much ❤️

Hi there. I'm so sorry you have had this, my heart goes out to you. I had an ERPC in May for my miscarriage, so not quite same situation, but I found I bled for about 10 days after my procedure but recovered pretty quickly. Back to exercising, back to feeling physically good, about two weeks after. I got my period back within 6 weeks, and though the first cycle was a bit longer, I got back to normal after that and my period is exactly the same as it was before. We had sex again about 2 weeks after my procedure - and it was totally fine! Though I was very nervous obviously.
I know it's hard to imagine now but you will get back to normal, you just have to take some time. Rest up and hope you are feeling better really soon.

Thanks so much for this comment. I'm still waiting for my period.

Sorry this has happened to you OP. Yes I was back to normal physically and back to exercising. My period came back 3 weeks after the miscarriage. I then got a period a couple of weeks lateen so a short cycle. It wasn't heavier than normal though I know that can be the case. I hope you feel more like yourself soon xx

I’ve had two mc. the first one was worse as it was more of a shock and a much wanted pregnancy after trying for years. I believe I bled heavily for 4-5 days before it eased off. I was signed off for two weeks, the first week was more for the physical bit and the second for mental health. I would have benefited from a third week as I was a mess emotionally. I wasn’t having regular periods so couldn’t say when they came back. I think we started having sex again within a month?
The second one didn’t happen naturally and I had to have an ERPC. I then had light bleeding for another 5 days and felt physically normal immediately. It took about six months for my period to come back. Probably started having sex again a month or so later.
Give yourself time, it’s a horrible thing to go through. But yes, in time you will feel like yourself again.
