Ectoptic/Methotrexate - day 4 HCG rising - what's normal?

Hi there!
I was diagnosed with an ectopic last week and I had the Methotrexate injection. I've just had my day 4 bloods back my levels have risen from 720 (day of injection) to 1040 (day 4).
It's so disheartening to see my levels increase even though I've been told this is normal. But is that a big increase?
I've also had no symptoms like no cramping or bleeding - I'm worried it's not working.
If I have to have a second jab does this mean we can't try again for 6 months?
Any advice would be helpful - this is such a stressful time. Sending my love to anyone else going through this right now, it's just horrendous and such an emotional rollercoaster :-(
xx

Hey just wondering how either of you got on? I’m in the same boat just had a 50% increase on my day 4 bloods - just so disheartened and worried. No symptoms either

Just to keep any future readers updated, my day 7 bloods following MTX is static so it’s been unsuccessful.

Day 1: MTX injected (141 hcg)
Day 4: 221 hcg
Day 7: 214 hcg

So back to the drawing board of waiting, a second shot of MTX, or surgery.

I had a further scan and they are certain they can see the ectopic between my
Ovary and Uterus so are leaning towards operating as I’m now technically 10 weeks pregnant and I have been in and out of the EPAU since I was 6 weeks.

I think I’m going to have some bloods done at the end of the week and if a miracle hasn’t happened go with the surgery.

Hi @H20202

If it's any comfort, I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies, the first treated with Methotrexate, which did bring my HCG down but took a while and then had the 3 months wait to try to conceive again (which only starts when your HCG gets below 5). I then had another ectopic when I got pregnant again, same tube again and I opted for the surgery and they removed my tube. That was in May.

I now have found out I'm pregnant again and all seems good so far but very early stages.

I am just telling you my story as I really wished I'd just had the surgery in the first place. The surgery itself was fine and only took a couple of days to feel back to normal after. I was worried having 1 tube would affect the length of time it took to get pregnant again but for me it was a quicker turn around than expected! I could start trying again as soon as I felt up to it. I know it's different for everyone but just wanted to share a positive story.
