Positive stories after 2 recurring miscarriages/progesterone?

My history… I had 1x chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks… then got pregnant 2 weeks after and had the smoothest pregnancy resulting in my beautiful 3 year old. In May this year we started trying, I got pregnant instantly and naively thought I’d have another smooth pregnancy. But no, in July At 10 weeks I had a MMC and passed naturally. Then in September I got pregnant again, didn’t think I’d have another miscarriage but unfortunately I had another MMC this week at 10 weeks again measuring 6 weeks and passed naturally. The EPU said even though I had 1x chemical + 2 reoccurring miscarriages they would count me as 3x reoccurring miscarriages so will refer me to the reoccurring miscarriage clinic thankfully. she also said when I next become pregnant I should be requested to be prescribed on progesterone. Just wondering does it actually work? Reading online there are mixed outcomes. I’m 33 years old. Did anyone have a successful 3rd pregnancy? Did you do anything different? It’s so horrible not finding answers as to why this happened. Thanks

Hello,

I had 3 recurring miscarriages within 5 years. I’ve heard really good things about progesterone but for me I was prescribed a blood thinner (clexane) and also took low dose aspirin for my successful pregnancy. I was on progesterone pessaries and injections but I still miscarried on them until my forth pregnancy when I took everything going, progesterone and the blood thinners and that seemed to do the trick! Ive also had two MMC so I really think my blood had a part to play in it. Good luck and I really hope the waiting list isn’t too long for the clinic.

@EVStar thank you for your reply and I’m so sorry to hear 3 recurring miscarriages. I’m so happy it turned out well for you in the end. After 3, did you go get any blood tests or other tests? I read about asprin but I’m still not sure what that’s for. I will look into it more now, thank you

@Doremi1689 I was lucky because I did get offered tests after my second MMC because it took my body 8 months for my period to come back and I knew it wasn’t right. I had a few autoimmune tests - lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome but both came back negative. I also had my AMH tested which can back abnormally high and ended up being my only symptom of pcos. This happened during the first lockdown so rather than properly investigating it I was sent straight for IVF 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think my issue was ever getting pregnant it was keeping the pregnancy past 5/6 weeks. The amount of positive stories I have read about blood thinners and aspirin I really think that’s all it was.
I have 2 friends who have also had 2 mc and they both took aspirin on their 3rd pregnancy and it worked 🤞🏼 Xx

I was prescribed it after two miscarriages but sadly it hasn’t worked for me and have just had my third
