7 week scan no heartbeat

If anyone has any experience with this problem, please let me know.

I went for an early scan today, thinking I was 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant or maybe even 7 weeks + (each online calculator seems to be different) but the baby was very small (4.76mm) and the sonographer couldn't find a heartbeat and marked the GA as 6w0d.

I am certain of my last period date (29th Sep) and my cycle length (25 days) so don't see how my dates could be out and I'm feeling really baffled. I can't get an NHS follow-up scan because the test was inconclusive and the private place recommended that I wait for 2 weeks and do another pregnancy test and then rebook with them. I haven't had any bleeding or other symptoms, so this is all a massive shock but I now feel like I'm just waiting to miscarry.

The sonographer said there was a 50/50 chance and the receptionist said 40/50 against my favour when I told her I was sure of my dates. Oh and also the baby has a yolk sac.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know why the baby would be so small? I'm feeling alone and sad and scared and can't seem to get any help.

Thank you all so much X

With my second I had an early scan, thinking I was 7 and a half weeks, and all they could see was an empty sac and a fetal pole(?) And said I was more like under 6 weeks, booked another private scan for a week later, and there was a heartbeat. I was so sure on my dates, so was really confused, but baby developed normally, I had a healthy pregnancy with no complications, and she was born over 8lb. She's now 6. Remember, sperm can live in the body for up to 7 days, so could have just fertilised the egg later than you thought. Not trying to give false hope, this was just my experience and I remember the stress and worry of that time. Good luck Op x
