Mmc 10 weeks spotting and scared

I found out earlier in the week that my baby stopped growing at 10 weeks 5 days approx and has no heartbeat . Booked for surgery next week Wednesday. It has been such a horrendous week and I have never been so upset or cried so much. To make matters worse I have just started spotting. Has anyone been through something similar ? I am so worried and scared as I am quite far along . I don’t want to go through this at home and think I will go to hospital if I start bleeding

I'm so sorry, it's such an awful thing to go through. I wouldn't go to hospital though because if you're miscarrying there isn't a lot they can do and you'll just be bleeding in public and on a horrible chair. At home, you can at least go through it in relative comfort.

Do you have someone who can stay with you and bring you tea, big pads and nurofen?

So sorry you’re going through this. I’m waiting for my surgery on Thursday. Had a MMC at about 7+6 and found out last Sunday.

I completely understand not wanting to do it at home. Do you have the phone number for the EPU? They said I could call if I started bleeding. Might be worth having a chat for some advice.

I’ve read that a hot water bottle is handy for the cramps and don’t forget to keep on top of painkillers.

Thank you both for your replies it is appreciated. So sorry to hear you are going through the same thing Idontsay it is just horrible and heartbreaking. I will try and stay home if I can but I’m just afraid of what I could end up seeing , I really don’t want to have to deal with that . Also I am scared of the pain I think I have a low pain threshold when it comes to this kind of thing. I have my husband and toddler at home with me at the moment, if I go to the hospital I will be alone as my husband will have to stay at home .

I’m so sorry your going through this, it’s shit.

I had a MMC seen at my 12 week scan a few weeks ago, and waited a week after that for the MVA. Spotted the whole time from scan to MVA but never progressed to more than that. I was advised that if I had any significant pain or heavy bleeding before my MVA to call EPU, or just attend A&E if EPU was closed.

I’m sure lots of people will pile on here saying don’t go to the hospital unless your leg falls off but please just seek medical advice if you feel you need to. I would have absolutely gone to A&E if I had started bleeding heavily or had a significant amount of pain, as I was terrified of managing it at home.

Of course nothing can prevent the miscarriage if your body is doing things naturally, but it’s absolutely not a misuse of NHS services if you need pain relief, support or assessment of what’s happening. And I say this as an NHS midwife.

Thank you Dotty for your reply and sorry for your experience . I hope things don’t progress but I guess at this point there is no way of knowing what will happen. So afraid every time I go to the loo now . I think if things do progress I will go to a&e because I am just too scared of what could happen.

I have a 4yr old at home too which is a big part of the reason I chose the surgery option.

It is such an awful limbo to be in. I’m so worried every time I go to the loo and I keep waking in the night thinking it has started.

I have had an upset stomach tonight and I don’t know if it’s just all the stress and anxiety or the start of it.

Fingers crossed that it stays at spotting for you.

for anyone who is interested my spotting did not progress to anything else . I asked the dr about it and she said it does not necessarily indicate starting to miscarry and can go on for a while and even stop with no bleeding at all. hope all is ok with you Idontsay
