Hi everyone,

Found out at the start of this week I’ve had MMC at 10 weeks although baby stopped growing at 7. Been scanned 3 times over last 2 weeks to confirm viability. I feel broken and devastated. Although trying to be positive and when emotionally/physically ready will start ttc again.

I had mifepristone yesterday and going back tomorrow for misoprostol. Had no bleeding/spotting/pain at all.

Nervous for tomorrow but feel like being informed is the best way forward, even if I know to expect a horrendous experience.

Please let me know your experience of medical management at home and how to prepare 🥺

Thank you xx

I'm in almost the same position, but a week earlier and going in tomorrow and on Sunday. I have to stay in all day on Sunday and possibly overnight, then surgical management if it hasn't resolved. The EPAU said they can do forms with me for genetic testing on the fetal tissue. I was also wanting to ask about the ovaries and if they can see number of antral (resting) follicles or if those are already reabsorbed once the corpus luteum develops, as everything else had been normal, very good hcg, but slightly low progesterone.

Hopefully it won't be too bad. I was hoping earlier loss might make things easier and quicker for things to reset. They did say my lining was really good, so I thought I might have a heavy bleed. I did a final HCG blood test (had a spare one) after the 9w scan yesterday to check if my hcg had already started to drop and then was just going to follow it down with sensitive pregnancy tests. My previous miscarriages have been chemicals or between 5-6 weeks, but I've never started bleeding until the hCG bottoms out.

Sorry that you are going through this and I hope you get good care. I think you are right that being informed helps. Part of if it is having some sense of control and expectancy. I also was going to ask if I can self-refer if and when we have another positive test, but I would probably want to check my hcg rates first independently and privately then go through the same early scans.

Sorry you're going through this @Lou1293. I had medical management for a MMC at 10 weeks that stopped growing at 6-7. It worked after the second pill - heavy bleeding and cramps that for a very short period got more painful than what I get in a period, almost contractions like, and I passed all the tissue. With paracetamol it was okay, quite brief, and after that it was just like a normal period for a few days. It was very grim emotionally though and my second MC in a row, I had pretty bad anxiety for some time. Took a few months off TTC to get myself sorted. Fell pregnant again on the first month since restarting, 17 weeks and doing okay so far. I was on holiday when the MMC happened, if I wasn't, I'd take sick leave - definitely needed it physically and mentally. Take care x

@Lou1293 @somethingluscious so sorry both of you ladies are going through this, I had the same end of July.
I had to have my tablets in hospital too. Started bleeding after the first lot of internal tablets, I was being sick too so had to take anti sickness tablets. After that I felt fine in myself. Had a couple more lots of tablets through the day, but not heavy bleeding and didn’t pass pregnancy tissue so ended up staying the night. Repeated tablets next day, still didn’t pass the baby so was feeling total crap! They let me go home and wait to see if it came out over the next few days and was rescanned 4 days later, if it hadn’t I was going to repeat medical management again the next weekend!
3 days after leaving the hospital I had very very mild cramps (I continued working throughout this time as felt fine) and bleeding got heavy and passed all pregnancy tissue over about 10 mins. Wasn’t really in any pain whatsoever. After that I had light bleeding for a further week. Confirmed at scan the miscarriage was complete.
I was panicking so much like I’m sure you both are, but even though the tablets took ages to work it was not that bad in my experience. I was lucky to not be in much pain so I hope it’s the same for you both! X
