First period after miscarriage - is this normal?!

I’m currently going through my first ‘proper’ period after miscarriage (eg a period that came after ovulation, confirmed by a blood test).

The internet warned this period might be different but it’s been so long!! I spotted for a few days before and have now been bleeding for 9 days. It’s not that heavy or clot filled but I’m unsure at what point I should be concerned.

Doctor no good as only response is to order a scan, which has a 8 week wait time on the NHS in my area.

Could people share their first period post miscarriage stories to provide reassurance?

My miscarriage was ectopic if that makes a difference!

I'm due my first one , today I got period pains and brown spotting, doctors have warned that it might be heavy and painful, like it's not enough what we've been through😥

I haven't experienced this yet but I was wondering if you're passing some retained products alongside your normal lining? Ive been told my retained products (small amounts) will come with my next period

I went for a scan after my period , all was clear, the period itself wasn't any different than the ones before pregnancy. All got back to normal at last. I keep my fingers crossed for you, I think there is a good chance it all clears with the period.

Hi @BasKaro - I ended up having an ultrasound and no retained tissue - my period ended up going on for roughly 2.5 weeks, now on to my second one and it seems more normal. Good luck ❤️
