I didnt see this board so had also posted on another board so apologies for double posting. I am currently going through a miscarriage. I started bleeding properly on Monday after a bit of brown blood on Sunday. I have continued to bleed quite heavily all week so I am sure the pregnancy is over. How long will I likely bleed for and is it going to still be causing so many cramps and pains in my pelvis? Also the last few days my stomach keeps swelling up and getting sore, then goes down again. Is that normal?

I’m sorry you are going through this OP it sucks. Have you seen a medical professional? If not you should try and see one soon. The amount of bleeding and time it takes depends on how far along you were.
hope things get better for you soon. X

Also the swelling doesn’t sound great - even if you have seen a medical professional already it would be worth going back as you may have an infection. Can you contact your local EPU?

So sorry to hear this.

If you haven't already done so please contact your midwife or Early Pregnancy Unit. If you are bleeding very heavily (eg filling a pad in under 30 mins) then please go to A&E if EPU is closed.

Also you can take paracetamol.

I asked the 'how long does it take' question and it's really variable, but it's important that you get checked out, even if the pregnancy is over. Retained products can put you at risk of infection.

Best of luck.

I spoke to a midwife at the EPU and she was lovely. I had already had a scan as I was insure of dates. I was only 6 weeks so it was early days. I didn't think to ask about the swelling feeling as it comes and goes and it had gone when I spoke to her 🙄

I definitely had a bloating and swelling feeling.
What did the midwife say about how you'd know it was done? Don't be afraid to call back.

She said it could last 2 weeks. I am now in a and e waiting for a doctor. I tried a pharmacist etc but they said I need to see a doctor. The nurse thinks I need to be scanned to check everything has gone but that can't be done until Monday.
