Miscarriage - do I need to see doctor?

I didn’t know I was pregnant (in hindsight it should have been obvious). I had an early miscarriage over the bank holiday weekend which was a big shock. I didn’t see anyone at the time as I was so shocked and it didn’t seem to be an ‘emergency’.

A few days later I’m wondering if I need to see a doctor? GP etc? Or do I assume all is fine unless I have any worsening symptoms?

I don’t know if I’m ready to talk about it with a stranger. And it’s awkward as I have other children to look after as it’s still school holidays here. Can’t imagine getting a phone call back from the GP at the play park or whatever.

Do I really need to see anyone about this? or can I bury my head in the sand and hope all is well?

Hi OP I think it would be a good Idea just to chat with your early pregnancy unit who can give you advice over the phone as to what to look out for infection wise and also offer a scan to check if the miscarriage was completed properly. Having just gone through a miscarriage myself I understand how hard it is to talk about, there are so many mixed emotions. However making sure you're physically well is important and the EPU will have all the info you need. Sorry for your loss.

thanks, do you think I can self refer to EPU? I wasn’t under any medical care as we weren’t aware

Yes you can call them directly.
