Slow heartbeat 6 weeks

Hi All

I had an early scan last week (5 weeks) which showed an empty scan measuring very small (4.3mm). I was asked to come back again this week and the sac has grown considerably and a small embryo was seen. The Dr said the embryo was measuring small and the heartbeat was slow. She said she’d expect to see more at this stage and told me it can go one of two ways. She said I’ll have to come back again next week but that I may bleed/miscarry before then. I feel completely drained by it all and really thought I’d have an answer today - was expecting the worst today. now I feel in limbo again with not much hope at all as a slow heartbeat isn’t a good sign.
Has anyone been through similar?

Hi, if you don’t mind me asking, what was the outcome? I’m in same situation right now, 6 days to go for my scan to see if heartbeat is any better, it’s awful x

I really feel your pain and I’m sorry you are going through this. Being in limbo felt like complete torture. I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant so Ive got everything crossed for you that have the same outcome. They said that during the first 12 weeks babies grow at different rates. Most women don’t even have a scan until 12 weeks so you wouldn’t know if the baby or sac were small etc as by the 12 week mark comes around, most babies are the same size/have similar heartbeats etc. wishing you all the luck and sending positive thoughts xx

Thank you for the reply, my scan is on Thursday, trying to stay optimistic but on the other hand, realistic so I’m expecting either outcome on Thursday. I’m measuring around 7-10 days behind where I should be, although the two weeks between the first and second scan, it grew daily which I guess it’s positive. can totally see why they only scan from 12 weeks! The wait is long!!! X

Hi hope your ok and everything went ok.
hope you don’t mind me asking what your outcome was please. I am in a similar situation to you and Haven’t got a clue what’s going on. Had a scan on 23rd measuring 5wk6days 4.6mm when I should be at least 7wk3 days she said the heartbeat wasn’t the strongest so need to go back Friday 2nd December for another scan. Since then I’ve started spotting red every time I go the toilet they said they can’t check me till my scan Friday which feels like the longest wait ever x

Hi, sorry to hear you’re going through this, I completely sympathise how you’re feeling, the wait is horrendous. I had my scan on Thursday and unfortunately wasn’t good news. Pregnancy hasn’t progressed and no heartbeat. I’m scheduled in for a D&C tomorrow as body hasn’t recognised I’ve miscarried. The wait for the next scan is torturous but it kind of gave me time to brace myself, although doesn’t make you feel any better when it’s confirmed. It is still very raw. I’m keeping all fingers crossed for you, I know other people who had been in my situation and it was a positive outcome so you could be one of those people. Here if you want to discuss further or have any other questions, thinking of you xxx

Im so so sorry it must be terrible! It’s so unfair!! I feel like I’m trying to brace myself for the worst with the wait aswell so that I deal with it a bit better not fair how they make you wait, thinking of you hope your ok xx
