Second period after miscarriage delayed?

Following a d&c in June I had my first period 38 days later (not particularly concerning; my period after a MMC in October came similarly late). But now am a few days late for my second. I'm usually bang on 27 days every time. I've done tests so not pregnant but this is so frustrating. Did anyone else experience this? It's so frustrating because I know I'm not pregnant so just want my next cycle to begin so I can start TTC again.

It can take a while for your cycle to settle after MMC

I’m in exactly the same boat! On day 36 and no 2nd period yet :( also not pregnant

I had a medical miscarriage (my second) in May, had a normal cycle after which last 4 days, and have been trying to conceive. Now I’m on day 39 and no AF and two negative tests. Doctors are not interested?

I'm in exactly the same boat, MC 1st July, has a period 27th July, which was pretty light and lasted about 4 days.. I'm usually regular and have a 26/28 day cycle.. I'm not CD 31 and still no second period, all tests negative.. I'm so stressed out by it. I have all period symptoms just no actual period, I'm so worried something is wrong. Have you ladies finally got your period now ? X

@Lozzi90 I got mine a few days later, don't worry. It will sort itself out soon. I'm sorry for your loss x

Glad I found this thread- I’m currently waiting for my second period post MMC. First period was fine and lasted about 5 days but I’m on day 36 now. Negative tests. I’m driving myself insane thinking about it all so much. It’s all I can think about- trying for a baby, getting pregnant, the thought of having a third MMC in a row. It’s all so much. I got my
hopes up thinking I’d got pregnant again straight away but now I just want my period to come so we can try again. :(

My first period post MMC was a breakthrough bleed meaning I didn't ovulate (confirmed by scan and temping). My second period was late due to late ovulation. I ovulated on CD22 instead of CD17 and therefore came on my period on CD36. My doctor says this is common post-MMC. Same thing happened with my previous MMC earlier this year. Takes a while for hcg to fall to zero and hormones properly settle. Currently CD10 in the next cycle and waiting to see if ovulation comes on time x

Hi all just reading through this thread I see that at least two of you had two MMC in a row. Just wondering if you found out about these at 12 week scan or previous.

rjs12 · 23/11/2023 06:54

The First time I started bleeding 2 days before my 12 week scan and when I went to hospital I was told baby didn’t survive past 6 weeks.
The second time I had a 7.5 week scan so I didn’t get my hopes up again. Baby was absolutely fine and we could see a heart beat. I went to my 12 week scan feeling nervous and was told baby didn’t survive past 7.5 weeks. So it must have happened around my first scan.
If I get pregnant again I will definitely have more private scans. I think 12 weeks is so long to have to wait x

This thread is so reassuring

fleur89 · 24/11/2023 23:29

Ovulation came on time this month on CD17-18.

fleur89 · 24/11/2023 23:30

@Longbarn5 I found out at 6-7 week scans both times. I'm used to the private system where they scan you much earlier

I just wanted to give some positive news to this thread as I have just found out I’m pregnant!

My second cycle post MMC was 36 days long I ovulated on day 19. This was long for me as before they would be about 29-30 days long.
Cycle 3 started on 23rd October and I began testing for ovulation 2 weeks after. I kept getting negatives and had no symptoms yet we kept trying to conceive regularly during the week I was supposed to be ovulating.
After using about 15 clear blue ovulation tests I decided to stop and wait for my next cycle where I would hopefully be more regular. It was expensive and disheartening.
Fast forward to this Wednesday- my discharge was a similar consistency to what it’s like during ovulation but I thought surely I haven’t ovulated on day 30! Well I did an ovulation test anyway and it came back positive!
After I got this test result for some reason I just didn’t think it was right so I of course when onto trusty Google and searched for ‘positive ovulation test at the end of my cycle’. I came across a few women saying that they had experienced the same thing and it turned out that they were actually pregnant and the ovulation stick had picked it up! I had some strip pregnancy tests so I thought I would give it a try and it came back positive! A little faint line but it was there.
I didn’t tell my partner as I didn’t want him to get excited until it was a definite positive so i tested again Thursday and yesterday (with a clearblue this time) and received multiple positives (1-2 weeks).

So despite my long rambling story, I just wanted to share some hope that although ovulation may sometimes come late or you may feel like you haven’t ovulated at all- it can happen eventually. I was only testing for ovulation once a day so I maybe should have tested on an evening too!
