Period with HCG in system?

I had a miscarriage 1st July at 5w6days pregnant, bleeding has been on and off since. But mainly brown old blood the last few weeks. 3 days ago I have what I think is my period as it's red blood and again and fairly heavy, but I am still getting a very faint positive on a home pregnancy test. Is it possible to get a period with HCG still in your system ? It's all so confusing.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, definitely possible, had this a few times, having it now too!

So sorry your going through this too, did you get a negative test after your period ?

No was still positive. Can take a long time for the hcg to go down, I think it needs to get to below 10 before it stops showing up, so can be a while.

Have you had a scan to rule out ectopic?

I have had two scans, ectopic wasn't mentioned in either, all she said in my last one was there was a small amount of retained tissue which I believe I have passes, but my HPT just isn't going to negative. How long after your period did it take for you to get a negative ? Thanks for answering all my question, this whole thing is utterly miserable.

Ok, well if there was retained tissue, it’s unlikely it would be ectopic. If they’ve said there was retained tissue and you are still getting positives, then they should really take bloods every few days, to ensure it’s going down, otherwise there could be issues if it hasn’t passed. I got high hcg over 4wks after I had bleeding, still in the 200s. I would keep on at them to regularly test for bloods until it goes down. My hospital won’t ‘discharge’ me until they get under 30. Were you scanned before the bleeding started? I only say this as that’s the only way they could know if the pregnancy was in the right place. I was scanned at 5wks, and kept getting rescanned as they couldn’t see anything. They took bloods every 2 days and it was rising, but not enough for a viable pregnancy. I had a ‘period’, but hcg levels were still high and slightly rising. That’s when they scanned again and after a long time managed to find an ectopic in one of my tubes. Had the injection a week ago to try and get rid of it (I honestly thought it was out due to the bleeding). Still getting high hcg, but it’s falling enough now to make them think the injection is working.
