Today we are 5+6 days and went for a reassurance scan. There had been growth since Monday (we had a private scan on Monday and sonographer said everything was as it should be at this stage) so we went in today and the woman scanning said it was a loss. We weren’t expecting to see a heartbeat today because it’s so early, I’m so confused. Surely it’s too early to be looking for a heartbeat? CRL measured 2.2mm on Monday and 2.4mm today. For only being basically two whole days is that not the correct amount of growth?

I’ve told them I’ll wait a week to see if nature takes it’s course then they’ll scan me again on Friday of next week.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Am going through similar at the moment - my understanding is that you would be classed as a ‘pregnancy of uncertain viability’. Standard procedure in such a case is to re-scan in 1-2 weeks (which feels like years..) I have my repeat scan tomorrow to see what’s happening. Best thing is to make contact with your early pregnancy unit and see if they will scan you in a week or two. So sorry this is such a stressful time for you.

Why have you had two scans in a week? Did you have any bleeding that cause you to return?

Did the sonographer say anything else? Could she see thin endometrium, an irregular shape, blood pooling or anything that suggested the sac was collapsing?

Agree with PP why did you have scans twice so early? Even many private places won't scan before 6 weeks and the same with miscarriage clinics on the NHS. There should also be 2 weeks between scans to determine whether there is any progression.
It's not unusual not to see a heartbeat at this stage

So I had two scans within days because my husband booked a private for me because we didn’t really know how far along I was but then the midwife had booked us in for today and we didn’t realise

Do you feel comfortable uploading a picture of your scan report with identifiers redacted

i don’t know your sonographer could diagnose a loss with what you have described

Why did your midwife book you in for a scan so early?
I wouldn't expect to see a heartbeat at this early stage - but a rescan in a week - two weeks should give you the answers. Hope it goes ok ❤️
