Miscarriage at 5 weeks - first time TTC

Hello - I feel so stupid writing this but I found out this time last week I was pregnant at 5 weeks 4 days - I then began to bleed 5 days later on the Sunday and confirmed on the Monday via internal scan that there was no pregnancy and was handed a leaflet about 'pregnancy of unknown location'. I am trying to think positively that I fell first time trying even though for months before trying it consumed me thinking it would never happen for us but now I just feel completely devastated and worried my body is not capable of carrying a baby. Please can you share some positive stories of healthy pregnancy after early loss as even with all the information I can't help but feel there is something wrong with me.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think miscarriage of a first pregnancy is quite common, more than later ones.. I know a few people who had a miscarriage first pregnancy but only successful ones after. Its said that it's nature's way of releasing an embryo that isn't healthy/wouldn't survive - it does not mean at all that there's anything the matter with you. Also, in the past chemical pregnancies wouldn't even have been known about a lot of the time as tests don't exist like they do now so you'd just think your period was a bit late, not that makes any difference to you but it shows they could have been quite common in the past also, we just didn't know. I wish you so much luck for the future, another thing reassuring is that you know that you can get pregnant and hopefully the next one will go well xx
