When to start aspirin?

Hello

I've had 3 miscarriages and I'm going to start taking 75mg of aspirin a day. When should I start taking them? We're going to try again next month.

Positive stories after aspirin therapy would be amazing too.

TIA

Hi, I have just found out I'm pregnant again after 2 missed miscarriages and was wondering should I start aspirin.

Would love to hear some feedback from others who used aspirin after miscarriage also.

@JuniperandI @MSS22 I'm sorry for your losses.

Have you seen a doctor to be prescribed aspirin? I am under the care of a recurrent miscarriage clinic (CRP in Epsom). It's quite important to see someone if you can afford it (or get referred) because they will do tests and check that aspirin is right for you.

For what it's worth, my current clinic prescribes it in the preparation phase so I started it before we started our cycles (IVF). I started blood thinning injections as well from just before ovulation.

In the past I have taken it later in the cycle, from ovulation.

I have immune issues with chemicals and one miscarriage rather than recurrent miscarriage if that makes a difference x

Thank you ❤ I'm sorry for your losses too.

My doctor is happy for me to start taking aspirin now my bloods have come back normal. They didn't say from when though.

I agree - it'll take 14 months for me to get an appointment for tests on the NHS so I'm getting a private scan next week.

Hey @JuniperandI I've seen you on some other threads and think we are in a similar position, 3 losses relatively recently. I'm so sorry, it's horrible. Re aspirin, I've heard of people taking all cycle, or after ovulation, or from bfp, or after 6 weeks, or after 12, etc. It seems to really vary! What did the clinic say to you? I'd just do what they say. If it were me I'd probably start with a BFP. Although I have stomach issues so probably can't just do it on the off chance, as I may harm my gut 😞 so really hoping that's not the issue for me! Waiting for referral for some tests now x

Hello. Thank you, I'm so sorry for your losses. It is heart breaking.

I've started taking 150mg of aspirin with my dinner because my bloods all came back ok. We'll be trying in about a month.

How long is your referral time? Mine's 14 months for my local hospital (for gyno) 😳

@JuniperandI gosh that is such a long wait!! 🙄🙄 At my local hospital I think it's similar, they indicated it could be that I'm not seen tl next year. But I've been doing some research and we can also be referred to a Tommy's miscarriage clinic, and they often have slightly shorter wait times - think the longest ATM is 6 months and shortest is about 6 weeks, depends where you are located if course. You can speak to a Tommy's midwife - Google them and the number will come up.
Did you have general bloods done like thyroid, hormones etc?
Are you trying for your first baby? X

JuniperandI · 12/07/2022 18:02

I'll take a look into Tommy's, thanks!
Yeah we're trying for our first. What about you?
They did my blood test at my GP's and it a 'blood MOT' apparently. They didn't look at hormones but everything else was tested, from blood glucose to lupus!
You should be able to get a general blood test at your GPs I should have thought, get the ball rolling?
I went for a private scan, £90 well spent. Nothing structurally wrong, no cysts or anything either.
